Secret "Golden Ticket" Concert - Foo Fighters rocked Berln!

Nov 08, 2009 10:57

So, sorry. I wanted to post on 4th but didn't have time.

The concert at Postbahnhof was just f***ing awesome! The last (and first ) time I saw Foo Fighters live was last year's open air concert at Wuhlheide. It was great and rocked but nothing in comparison to this small, intimate concert on Wednesday.

I had fun twittering while waiting to get in (yes, there was another queue - although, as it were the same bunch of people that waited with us the night before for the tickets....it's was the same queue, a different night, but the same reason: Foo Fighters!) and was totally excited. Wich means normally that the concert will be a total disappoinment (because I expect too much).

It was not. It was the way best concert ever. There are only a handful of concerts that compare to this one. But so far, I don't think there is one that comes up to this.
The Foo Fighers played almost two and half an hour which is a very long time for a rock band.
And then, the concert "hall" was so small even when standing at the back it was like sitting on Dave Grohl's lap (which is really tempting but  I prefer the lap of Taylor Hawkins).

After the first maybe five songs in front row we decided to step back a little. By then I had been hit by a beaker of beer - yes, fully loaded as you may say. I really don't know why people enjoy throwing their highly paid beer away, but, well, I actually bathed in it. You can ask who's more decadent. sweety_annchen wasn't familiar with the pogo mob (in other rock concert we always had a spot in the back were you have a good view and still can dance without being hit by a hulk in rock trance), so  we changed spots (not without Anne trying to make pics with the camera in her mobile phone - as real cams were forbidden) and enjoyed the last two hours from somewhere a bit more safe.

They played almost every song you could ask for... except for one of my absolute favourites: Best of you. Wish Dave would have sang it unplugged like on the Skin and Bones album. That version always gives me goosebumps.

It was amazing to see how the Foofies and the mob egged each other on. It was always "just one more" and "only this one and then we'll call it a night". They just didn't stop and neither did we.

Well, I could write and write and write but never actually find the words to describe it. Just believe me: Foo Fighters are so worth every trouble to get tickets that next time there's something like that I would wait five hours to get the tickets!

Oh, and I, of course, already bought the Greatest Hits with DVD. Anne and me watched the music videos last night and (at least for a greater part of the videos from the 90s we just rofled).
Uh, and yes, we kind of have a new fandom and OTP... Fandom: Foo Fighters. OTP: Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins. Those two even use the same hair styling products (judging from the shiny, wavy long hair both have now). *lol*

Oh, yes, why "Golden Ticket" concert? Well, as it says, those limited 700 tickets actually were golden. Yes, you hear right. I expected Willy Wonka to come around the corner every minute. He didn't but Bernde of the Beatsteaks (famous Berlin rock band) did. Accepted that as a worthy replacement even though there wasn't any sweets or chocolate. *rofl*
