Fangirling an audiobook voice actress

Is that supremely dorky of me?

I first was enchanted by Jo Wyatt's voice while listening to the first book in Libba Bray's trilogy, A Great and Terrible Beauty. I was devastated that someone else voiced the following two books, and missed her light, lyrical voice deeply. (Apparently I get sophomoric after listening to British audiobooks.)

Today I was listening to another audiobook - Lyra's Oxford, by Phillip Pullman - and recognized the person doing Lyra's voice - Jo Wyatt! Neat. I would love to listen to anything else voiced by her -- which is an interesting way to read books. Instead of reading to a book out of interest in the subject or author, listening for the voice actor. It's like reading comics for the artists - I was always more interested in the writer, myself, but I can see the appeal of reading them in other ways.

According to Audible, Jo Wyatt has voice three more books: Avalon High by Meg Cabot, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and Alice in Wonderland. I will try to track them down. If you know of other things she's voiced, do let me know!

Listening to Lyra's Oxford also piques my interest in audio short stories. It was nice to listen to an ENTIRE story between the time I walked downtown and then home. Do you guys have any recs for audiobook sources or particular stories? I know Amazon has started to sell them, but I would have no idea how to go about searching through them. Thanks!

In other news, I hurt my elbow last weekend - seems I've strained the tricep. I'm supposed to try to not use it for a few days, but I want to get some baking done tonight. This will be interesting!

I'm sure you've all seen this by now, but the latest SNL viral video is pretty spectacular: Jizz in my Pants. :D

I've started getting holiday mail! Thanks to 80sfiend for the lovely sparkly penguin card, cerealjoe for the Finnish Christmas postcard, and to glowing_dragon for the very pretty teddy bear card. :) I also got a lovely package from hnarbit - I've put the gifts under my tree and can't wait until Christmas day. :D I've sent off a bunch of holiday_wishes stuff and finally fulfilled my commitment for the 365 day meme. Yay! If you were on my 365 list or linked me to your wish list, you might be getting something soon! :)
