300 complaints. *How* big is Canada?
I have been finding so many great links lately and have been hoarding them all on Facebook, My apologies. Here are some great ones I've found today.
First, I must say that one of the best things about having visited in NYC earlier this year was being able to spot and appreciate the numerous New York references in pop culture that, until now, have apparently been flying way over my head. Like, I'm reading this Gawker article, and they mention the Bowery Poetry Club! Which I've been to! (I stumbled across it in a tour of Greenwich Village. I was pissing my pants excited and ditched my group just to hang out there for half an hour. I mean, a club with POETRY in its name. So cool!)
Oh, also, my dad and step-mom went to Chicago last week, and they visited the African-American museum all because I recommended it to them!!! That makes me feel awesome. :D (Had I been in Chicago for longer than an afternoon, I would have loved to have gone myself.) They report that it was excellent, medium-sized compared to other Chicago museums (so still pretty huge for our part of the world) but they're expanding, and my step-mom said "it wasn't all depressing slavery stuff." Heh. Apparently there's a lot of contemporary stuff, including a whole room dedicated to the current mayor. They also brought me back stuff from the museum (WOO!), which I can't wait to check out.
How To Eat Now That You're Poor: If it took a complete meltdown of America's economy to resurrect Kool-Aid radio ads, well by god, we will support it.
