Tremble in fear, land dwellers, the Nipple Rings Of Retribution have spoken!

I took a volunteer shift tonight so I would have some internet access and be able to read my flist and post, but it's been a busy night and I don't have much internet time left, so a quick post:

I get internet tomorrow! I'm all moved and have been doing a great job of unpacking - I'm almost all unpacked after being there for a week! I'm hoping to beat my current record of three weeks - which I did in the summer, and which is much better than a year ago when it took 6 months to fully unpack and set up my apartment! I'm really happy with the apartment - it's big, has a funky paint job and I only have one other roommate (the good one from last year). After, what, 4 years of (mostly) shitty living arrangements, I think this one is going to work out!

I'm really glad to be out of my rented room from the summer. I feel like I've been holding my breath all summer and now I can finally let it out. I didn't realize how much control space had over my day-to-day activities. I now actually have the space again to lay out my stuff, my notes and writing, and thus am starting to feel creative again. I've been really excited for fall - mostly for NaNoWriMo, I think, and all that it brings. I want to do it again this year, but not get sick this time, so hopefully that will work out. I'm itching to get into more of a habit of writing regularly, submit some poetry to journals... I feel good and relieved and like I'm in a good place. Yay!

Part of the reason the apartment was set up so quickly is that a friend of my dad's was giving away a lot of furniture and kitchen stuff, and we got the bulk majority of it. I gave away a lot of my dishes and nice furniture in the spring (thinking I wouldn't have to move again), so it was really nice to get so much stuff for free. Among other things, we got: a couch, 3 sofa chairs, a microwave and stand, set of microwave-safe dishes, an entertainment centre for the TV that is really really pretty, a rice cooker, wok. I also got a new box spring and mattress for my bed and it's sooo comfortable right now. Oh and I also got a gorgeous chest of drawers. In addition to some housewarming gifts my roommate got from her parents, out apartment is totally pimped out now. I'll have pictures soon once we're finished setting up!

I have some new friends from the read_hp friending meme. Hi new friends! It will be nice to have more HP friends. I'm re-reading book 7 now (I wasn't able to keep up with read_hp with packing and moving) and feeling very emotional about it. I love these books so much. I love how much the war reflects WWII and the measures Hitler enacted. (And again I just don't understand the people who complained that these references were too strong in this book - they've been there all throughout the books!) I'm hyper aware this time of the part in the book where they're just camping camping camping. It didn't drag too much for me on the first read (though when I realized that the book was half done and they were still camping, I was a little concerned), but that's the #1 complaint I heard from people afterward. I'm at the part where Ron just left, and it hasn't started to drag yet (though I admit this part isn't the most interesting to read). We'll see if it starts to drag on me yet.

Poll Deathly Hallows spoilers

That's all for now. I'm back online tomorrow and look forward to being online regularly again!

ETA: I forgot to include an option in the poll for "mild spoilers are okay, but no 'Snape kills Dumbledore!'-type stuff." (That's from book 6, by the way, not book 7.) So if you're okay with mild spoilers like the ones I've posted here, but not big ones, comment to let me know! Thanks.

hp, rl
