Boldthrough catchup

Aug 07, 2007 18:30

I'm drowning in Boldthrough links (that's what I was talking about in the letter in my last post).

Yes, I'm still camping out at news. As some have said, spamming the posts there is basically an online form of civil disobedience and the most readily available peaceful protest we can launch at this time, due to the nature of the business and user base. As of 7:30 p.m. Atlantic time, we've maxxed out comments on ALL news threads except one. After this one is full we'll have hit the previous threads full from Strikethrough part 1. Where should we go next? Or does that signify that it's time for some serious action?

News stories:
CNet | Der Spiegel (we hit the German press!) | Tech OMG.com | Valleywag (on 6A's conflict of interest in the permanent account sale donations) | Valleywag again (old article, but good analysis on fanfic and 6A) | Firefox

Let me know which ones I'm missing! I know there's at least one.

Creative protest:
Petition:
This is a really clear, well-written open letter to 6A about what information we need them to provide. 'Sign' it by commenting if you agree!

The Battle of the Wikipedia Edit Button:
Finally, some dude keeps deleting the section of the LJ Wikipedia entry that describes Boldthrough, and I've seen that page change numerous times today alone. Currently the info has been put back in with links (which might have been the problem - the other edits had no citations), but I'm going to keep an eye on it and edit it myself if necessary. I could give it much more detail anyway.

ETA: Dude deleted all the info again. SIGH. Is there any way to report this behaviour to Wikipedia? I'm not very familiar with the set-up there. Or is the only option to keep adding the info back in and hope the guy backs off? And is there a way to figure out who he is, and if he's connected to LJ staff or just some really bored person?

lj, strikethrough
