I'm starting to cry. I'm at work. That's not good.

It's Firefly all over again.

Veronica Mars has maybe/probably been cancelled.

In case it's not too late, please sign this petition and comment in the link I posted above.

If you were a Veronica Mars fan during the brilliant first season or the pretty good second season, please show your support now. I know the third season hasn't been the greatest, but what can you expect from a show that's desperately trying to attract new viewers so it doesn't get canned? Yes, the mini-arcs lost something essential about Veronica Mars (the brilliant characterization, is the best theory I've heard), but that lesson is now learned. I even like the kinda-crazy-ish idea for the fourth season (a la Alias) mentioned in the first link. What the hell.

If you never have watched Veronica Mars before, or checked out a few episodes but it never caught on with you, I'm still asking you to sign the petition. There are many of us who dearly love this show, and variety in the TV landscape is what makes it so interesting right? Whether you watch or not, believe me when I say it deserves to be on the air. Don't let this be another Firefly where in a few years you finally watch the DVD and realize that a travesty really did take place and maybe you should have signed that internet petition your crazy TV whore friend asked you to. Just do it. You won't regret it. *gives you a cookie*

My cousin is a huge hockey fan, and her favourite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. I remember when they traded her favourite player to another team, and she was moody and grumpy and sullen for weeks. I don't know if I'll react that darkly, but I really will be very upset. It shouldn't be nearly as painful as Firefly's cancellation, since I have never let a show in that close again, and VM really has had 3 years and that is so very different from 12 episodes. But after Buffy and Firefly, it really is the only show that I have held so close to my heart.

And those types of shows should be allowed to die a wholesome, natural death. Shame that so rarely they do.

ETA: More information on the possible reformat.

ETA2: Here's a good compilation of stories on the VM rumours, and it looks like it will be kept up-to-date. I know I'll keep checking back.
