Nano or bust!

Gilmore Girls: I cannot express HOW MUCH I LOVE Lorelai and Chris together. SQUISHSQUISHSQUISH. Their fight was very realistic and understandable, and both of them had emotions mucking up their perspectives. Ultimately Lorelai was right about not sending a 4-year-old out of the country to a parent who's been incommunicado for two years without first investigating yourself. I'm glad Chris came around. And Rory's jealousy was really cute. She and Logan are soooo adorable.

I officially declare that Gilmore Girls is back on track. The writers needed a few episodes to get the kinks out, and that's fine with me. I'm glad my show is back!

National Novel Writing Month (heretofore referred to as "Nano" in this entry as well as in my LJ for the next month) is in LESS THAN A WEEK! I am so excited. I stayed up late last night reading the Nano forums (finally!) and am now in an interesting discussion about autobiographical non-fiction (my genre), plus I've found a ton of really cool stuff. Namely:
  • An interesting article about creative non-fiction, which is what I thought I was doing at first, but according to the description there, I'm not. I don't plan to add fictional elements to my writing, though I suppose if I really get blocked talking about painful events, then that's always an option.
  • A Nano quiz! At first I did poorly (6), but then I changed two answers and did really well (14). Eh, it's fun. The tips at the bottom are very useful too.
  • The ultimate Nano advice: Keep going, and fix it in the rewrite.
  • Beautiful Nano computer desktops with word count calendars. Plant unexpected inspiration everywhere, and easily see the word count you need to reach each day in order to meet the 50,000 word goal by the end of the month!
  • According to stats that someone posted (with a pretty graph!), 58% of registered writers don't start their Nano novel. If you can reach 10k, chances are you're going to win.
  • Nano word counters! Now I just have to figure out how to use these.
