In retrospect, my idea of "short" may qualify me for a Ph.D. (or, Permanent Head Damage). Joy.
Arranged in rough day-of-the-week order (according to my wonky Canadian and maritime tv schedules):
Sundays
Studio 60: I'm really, really loving this show. Some of my f-list have talked about the latter episodes not living up to the first, or the actual scenes from the comedy show being no so funny. Well, call me lame, but I don't agree. The musical number was introduced in an exciting way, and I thought it was cute - though in retrospect, sure, I'll give you the fact that it was none too original or racy. The religious Jeopardy I thought was hilarious, though again I can grant a point to those who thought it was heavy handed. But oh so funny! I love the characters, and the dialogue. Gah.
The Amazing Race: I'm kind of shocked to realize I'm only watching two reality shows this season (well, add American Idol next season I guess). I have always been to proud to straddle the highbrow as well as the lowbrow. If you can call primetime TV highbrow. :) Anyway, I'm really enjoying this show, as always! I like that they're travelling to foreign and interesting places (China, Mongolia, Vietnam) and not spending half a season in New England. *cough* I'm still bitter about that, yes. My favourite character? The differently abled woman who is awesomely realizing that her partner is a pretentious jerk.
Desperate Housewives: Meh. I watched the premiere and it interested me enough that I will make an effort to download it or watch it if I'm really bored. But after two hours of Sunday night TV, I'm ready for bed. Or the internet, as the case may be. This show's high point was definitely the first season.
Mondays
Prison Break: Oh my EFF this show is amazing. I still haven't watched most of season one, but I've caught up on season two, and I daresay this is the only show on TV right now that gets me excited. Yesterdays episode was OMIGODWOW, and Michael Scoffield is really, really hot and badass for a brilliant engineer with a heart of gold.
Tuesdays
Gilmore Girls: Is it just me, or has this show lost half its sparkle? I admit I'm being highly critical of how it's changed since its creators and "voice" left, but I really don't think I'm seeing things. Like tonight - why were Rory and Lorelai fighting? I really didn't think Rory would be so lame about the whole thing and be a bit more understanding. And that not-Dosey's Market grocery store scene. That was PAINFUL. Where was Lorelai's coping mechanism of self-reflective pop cultural comebacks? Instead she just stood there pathetically like a doe in headlights. And the scene was just shot really, really poorly. Oof. I'm exciting to buy the season six DVD, and maybe I'll consider that collection finished. If it gets much worse than this, I may have to pretend season 7 doesn't exist at all. (But I hope it does well because IT HAS TO DELIVER VIEWERS TO VERONICA MARS!!!)
Wednesdays
Lost: I'm excited about the premiere tomorrow! This will probably be the other show I'm excited about this season. That, and Supernatural once I get into the habit of watching it weekly.
Thursdays
Survivor: Yes, I'm still watching this show. The split-tribes-by-race thing was hokey, but all it ended up resulting in is a refreshingly diverse cast (though most of the people of colour still have light-skin privilege) and provoking an interesting dialogue about race. All very cool in my book.
Grey's Anatomy: Don't get me wrong. I LOVE this show. One of my favourites, hell yes. But I missed the first half of the strange two-hour premiere (strange because there were so many flashbacks in the first hour that I assumed it was one of THOSE episodes and didn't watch - and now I can't arsed to even download it) and don't even care. I'll keep watching, but it hasn't (re)caught my interest, yet. I miss Denny. :(
Fridays
Supernatural: Dean in PJs = two thumbs up from me! I loved the rest of the episode too. There was a plot right? All I can remember is PJs... From what I've heard of season two spoilers, it looks like things will heat up this season (both plot-wise and relationship-wise), so that should be exciting!
And thanks to the internet (since it doesn't air on Canadian TV over the winter) - Veronica Mars: I want to see the premiere again in good quality, but from the first time 'round, I liked it. It definitely didn't pander to fans, and so for me it wasn't a stellar episode, but we need new viewers liek woah, so bring on the introductions. There were a lot of fun moments, and I have high hopes for the season. That we'll make it through the whole thing, for starters.
I also enjoyed the series premiere of Six Degrees a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't find the second episode on TV last week, and now don't really care. Commercials are airing here publicizing the series premiere, which apparently airs (again) tomorrow night. What the hell? Oh, and I checked out the first bit of Heroes' second episode last night, but it didn't do anything for me.
And before most of my shows started, I watched a couple of episodes of Dancing with the Stars. And I am only moderately embarassed. Go Mario go!
