The Amazing Idol
I got Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yesterday! There was a sale at my store, one day only, so I specifically walked up there for that. I watched most of it last night (soooo preeetty) and will finish tonight. Apparently there are a bunch of great extras, so I'm excited to check those out.
I watched my first all-girls American Idol episode last night (I've been able to catch the guys' the past couple of weeks but missed the girls'), and my reaction went something like this: Paris is good but doesn't blow my mind, who is that?, meh, she's okay, seriously who are these people?, oooohhhh she's preeeetttyy, ick, wow I liked her performance... Seems the only girls I remember from earlier in the competition are Paris and that crazy tall basketball player chick (I didn't realize she was so freakishly tall until Ryan stood by her. Wow.) who I thought was okay but doesn't really grab me. I have a bit of a crush on the preeeeetttyy girl now - the one in, um, very flattering jeans and black long-sleeved shirt. Good singer, too.
Apparently one contestant was rumoured to be pregnant, which she denied on the show. Ryan asked her something like, "So, you and Kevin haven't been getting jiggy with it?" She laughed no, and we saw a shot of Kevin glowing, like he's such The Man for them to make that joke. Um, no, honey. You're the punchline. Sorry. No one wants to get with Chicken Little, dear.
I am SO glad we're back to the old formula. The older women at my work who argued that FAMILY TAR WAS THE BEST THING EVAH are fucked up, yo. Two people per team, two episodes in - and I already have favourites! And not-favourites! I'm not staring at the TV for 10 episodes going, "And who is that again?" Thank you.
So my favourite team, of course, is Ray and Yolanda. Because us Yolande/Yolanda's have to stick together. Represent. Yessss. I also love the Latina mother/daughter combo. The daughter is hot. I didn't like the two freaky weird boys last episode, but they're growing on me now. I like that they now have a truce and are even working cooperatively with the frat boys (instead of snarking like they were at first. That gets old). I think one of the frat boys is hot, but wow, they're both total horny jerks. "You have to be nice to them [hot girls]. So you can get in their pants later." Ew. But he's still hot. The 'MoJo' team seems good, though I agree with the TWOPer who said the MoJo (an amalgam of their names) is more on the obnoxious than the endearing side. And I also agree with indilime about the nerd couple - yay nerd power, but they're a little bit *too* stereotypical. I'm losing interest in them. Oh, and of course I don't like the token "This guy is going to act like an abusive jerk toward his wife at some point in the game" couple. I think that's all of them...
I am SO happy the two old women are going home! Last week they screamed all episode ("Shut UP!") and this week they (one of them) bitched and whined the whole episode and I'm so glad I don't have to listen to that again. Awesome. And I'm glad the old(er) couple survived. They have a lot of spirit and it would be nice of them to stay in for a while. I laughed when they thought they could do the rock climb challenge thing. Though they did finish it - I wish we saw how she got from 'stuck at the bottom crying that this is impossible' to suddenly being at the top of the cliff, though...
