Thursday night entertainment, in brief

I saw Pride and Prejudice tonight and loved it. Keira Knightly was lovely and the Mr. Darcy guy was pretty hot and fit the role well, too. I was comparing the movie to Bride and Prejudice the whole time, which was entertaining ("Huh, they cut the Bollywood song and dance number from this scene!"). I've never read the book, and if I've seen a straight P&P adaptation before, it was totally when I was 10 or something. I think I now have to read the book, as I really have enjoyed all the versions I've seen (including the lose adaptation in Bridget Jones), so it would be nice to check out the source material. :)

Survivor was pretty good tonight. My main comment is about the ridiculous hypocrisy of one cast member. So Judd freaked out after he was voted off, calling them ... what did he call them? Jerks or cowards or something juvenile and pissy. Yet he was the one saying, right before the vote, that someone has to go home and it's really not a big deal, that everyone is looking out for themselves and the person who leaves will just have to suck it up. Of course, he was presuming it wouldn't be him, so his comments really meant "One of YOU suckers will have to suck it up, because I am King Mighty and will crush you all!" I've never been a Judd-lover, but after his comments at tribal council, I SO wanted him gone. Alliance or not, I don't care, the guy's a jerk! But I just had to laugh about how PISSED he was after he was voted off - apparently if he's the one affected, then he DOESN'T have to suck it up or see it as just part of the game. No, suckers, you turn on *me* - instead of me turning on *you* - and you will pay! PAY I TELL YOU.

At least it will be entertaining to see him burst a vein as he emos about "How could you do this to me?!" to the final two in the last episode.

ETA: As TWOP describes it: "At tribal council, Judd decides to go all truth-telling about how everybody wants to boot somebody, and it's nothing personal, so nobody should get mad. And then he gets booted and tells everyone they're scumbags and he hopes they get eaten by crocodiles. HA HA HA! Awesome."

The Apprentice tonight was surprisingly exciting. I say surprisingly because the outcome seemed obvious, but it turned into quite a juicy episode. I love that Randall and Rebecca won handily (for they are my faves!), and once it was down to Felicia and Alla, I got super bored because I thought - and so did they - that Felicia's firing was imminent. And that turned out to be the case, but the boardroom scenes were quite interesting and Alla's surprise firing was definitely delicious. I expected Felicia to give up, but she put up a good fight, and made a good case for why Alla isn't Ms. Perfect at all. It would have been interesting to see an Alla/Randall/Rebecca three-way (ha), but knowing that one of my two favourites will win is indeed satisfying.

I'm not sure how I feel about Trump's mass firings this season. The first time when he let go four people all at once was awesome in its shockingness. The last time when he fired two, I didn't like it (granted I missed that episode so maybe it would have made me sense had I, you know, watched it). But this time I liked it, mainly because I knew Felicia was a goner and I really don't like Alla. What a bitch she was, calling Felicia weak and saying she feels superior to "depressed" people. Um, Felicia is upset, which is totally understandable, and if that's how you feel about any displays of emotion period, you must want to crucify people who are actually depressed! And then Felicia goes and voice overs about how sensitive and warm Alla is. HA! Wait till she watches this episode in the comfort of her own home...

I think next week's showdown between Randall and Rebecca is going to be fascinating. I can't wait!

ETA: TWOP's mini-recap of this week's Apprentice episode is hilarious.
