Oh, the party. And what a lovely, lovely, party it turned out to be! ;D

I like the fact that Severus is still a snarky grumpy old bat in here, one who grumbles like a ruffled cat at Kignsley and has no problem with the idea of 'politely' telling the ministry to shove off and have their party somewhere else...

Nice to see that Harry manages to catch him by surprise when he first speaks from within the shadows of the curtains and that Harry's eagerness to acknowledge him is still as unexpected and confusing to Severus as the questions he keeps on asking him, at least initially.

Hummm... I loved Harry's carefully planned introduction of the half-blood prince's book into their conversation and the idea that he is trying to re-write it from memory is wonderfully original. I've never read anything like it before and it manages to immediately convey how very important that book used to be for Harry, at the same time as it explains quite beautifully just how simple it could have been for him to fall in love all over again with the author of the book, once he'd finally discovered his identity.

I applaud Harry's boldness in asking for that kiss, but I absolutely adored Severus' caution and his crystal clear warning that he's not willing to be a plaything. It was wonderfully IC and made his acceptance of the kiss all the more meaningful.

I laughed like mad at Ron's unruffled little warning from the other side of the curtains, as it already shows that Harry's friends are aware of his feelings and willing to help him get away with pursuing this relationship without anyone -and by that I mean Rita- being any the wiser about it until he is ready to announce it to the world himself...

All in all this is a wonderful continuation of your story, one that moves us forwards from that first awkward beginning into an actual agreement to go further. Now let's see what happens in their next date...

I think my favorite line from this chapter is that he 'politely told them to shove off' because it is so IC for him. It makes me giggle every time.

Oh, that half-blood prince's book was such an important part of that year - I'm surprised no one has had him recreated it before. I've read stories where he managed to save it - but I like trying to bring some new ideas too. The book also brings up a way of showing to Severus that Harry has thought about him for years - since he found out that he was the owner and come to terms with his attraction.

I'm sure Harry has discussed with Hermione and Ron all about his desire for Snape. As his closest friends their opinions matter the most to him (and since I prefer supportive friends even if they're opinions differ I made sure they would help out!) so he talked with them and sorted stuff out about himself now that he has an opportunity to do so.
