There is no justice

There it is, folks. There is no justice.

The good guys inevitably lose, etc. The bad guys always win.

If that weren't true, we wouldn't be talking about a man accused of sexual assault, who is being pushed forward by the extreme right, in order to fully seize control of power in the United States for the next several decades.

One issue, as the links above suggest, is Roe v. Wade and access to abortion, another (also linked to above) is public funding for religious education, or undermining the separation between church and state.

But I think that by far one of the biggest reasons the Republicans are doing this has not been discussed very much in the mainstream news or in political circles. Or at least not as much as it should.

What am I talking about? The US is undergoing a huge demographic shift, where non Hispanic white births are now reportedly a minority. In the majority of US states, there are now reportedly fewer births than deaths among whites. It would appear, also, that news of these facts has prompted a degree of anxiety among white people.

Since 2011, "some 22 states, mostly controlled by Republicans, have passed laws to restrict access to the ballot, which disproportionately target Democratic constituencies such as people of color". (From this reference.)

Here are a few stories on the subject. I would submit, also, that the impact of voter suppression laws may well increase with a true conservative right-wing majority in the US Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh has previously found in favor of voter suppression.

Here are the references in question:

1. America's shameful history of voter suppression.
2. The Threat to American Elections You Don’t Know About But Should.
3. Trump administration's voter suppression attempts ahead of midterms are not only 'morally wrong,' they're illegal.
4. It's time to fight the ballot bullies in court.
5. US: Groups warn voter suppression only getting worse. One year since the 2016 presidential election, voting rights groups say voters face new barriers at the ballot box.
