Since starting my new job , I've had trouble getting things rolling on my own projects. I've had some good news the past couple of days though, including:
I sold my piece "Spilt" from the Art & Addiction show to a doctor from Johns Hopkins! She teaches a class for substance dependent pregnant women, and will be using a slide of the piece in her lectures. I'm very excited that it will continue to have importance and be able to connect with new viewers struggling to overcome addiction. The painting will also be featured in a textbook from Johns Hopkins, scheduled for release in August 2009. My piece "Under Pressure" has been donated to the Lilly Oncology on Canvas touring exhibit! More news on this show come Fall. I'm currently working on a commission oil painting in memory of Mrs. Risner's son John. This will be completed next week, and more paintings are to begin shortly after. I'm so honored to be involved in making a tribute to his life. My own body of work is getting rolling too, with 3 new paintings scheduled to be completed in time for the Kennesaw State University Alumni Show. This show is very exciting because it is not juried, and you will get to see exactly what the artists want you to experience without any constraints on our messages. The opening reception will be held Thursday Aug 28th, 5-8:30pm in the Fine Arts Gallery @ Joe Mack Wilson building. I don't exactly know what I'm painting yet, but tonight is planning night and there's a good feel in the air.
Hope everyone is doing very well, and maybe I'll see some of you at the KSU show! :D
