A Whole New World

Ilosovic Stayne knew it was going to require some time to adjust to how things were in Mirana’s palace. Everything was shining, and glowing white and perfect, just like the Queen who had stolen his heart and, despite his past, had welcomed him into hers. He also knew that it was going to take a while before he was accepted by her subjects as the future King, but he was more than willing to wait it out, as it meant that, for the time being, the only one who truly paid him attention was Mirana herself, and that suited him just fine.

Since coming to live with Mirana, there was one thing in particular that he was still getting used to, though very happily so, and that was waking up with her in his arms. For so very long, he’d woken up alone…and now he hoped he’d never have to open his eyes in the morning and not find her there.

One spring day found Ilosovic roused by the soft chirping of birds outside the bedroom window, and he blinked his eyes open, adjusting to the pale sunlight that filtered into the room before shifting slightly onto his side and staring at the vision that lay beside him.

Mirana’s beautiful face was peaceful in slumber; her chest rising and falling with each breath that she took.

Her lips were curved into a contented smile and, unable to resist, he reached out and trailed a hand over her shoulder, which caused her to stir at his touch and curl closer to him.
Ilosovic sighed happily when Mirana stretched and finally opened her eyes, nearly blinding him with a wide smile in the next instant. “Good morning…”

He chuckled softly. “Are they always going to be this good?”

She pressed close and traced a heart over his chest. “They will be if we make them.”

He leaned forward and captured her mouth with his, instigating a kiss that resulted in Mirana being pinned against the pillows and trapped under his strong form while she giggled and tangled her fingers into his shoulder length, dark hair.

Pulling back to breathe, Ilosovic nuzzled his nose against hers. “I’ll make sure they are then.”

“You do that,” she managed, nuzzling back. “Feel like some tea?”

His handsome features brightened considerably. Mirana’s morning tea was one of the most delicious concoctions he’d ever tasted and, at his rapid nod; the Queen broke into another fit of giggles.

“I’ll take that as a yes…you wait here…I like seeing you in my bed,” she flung back the covers, offering him quite a view of her naked form as she rose, located his shirt, and pulled it on. “I’ll be back in a bit.”

His gaze raked over her long, shapely legs as she sauntered out of the room, her hips swaying as she did. He stayed in bed for a few moments more, a dazed expression on his features, before he also flung the covers away, pulled on a pair of pants, and took off after her.

The vast halls of the palace were still taking a while to get used to as well, and Ilosovic found himself turned around before he gained his bearings and managed to locate the kitchen.

He paused in the doorway when he spotted Mirana twirling around, humming cheerfully as she put together the ingredients for the tea. The image of her made him smile and lean against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest, content to just watch her for a while, admiring how cute she looked wearing just his shirt.

She spun around again and saw him standing there, her eyes widening. “I thought I told you to stay in bed!”

Chuckling, he ventured into the kitchen. “With you waltzing around the palace in my shirt? Not a chance…I was enjoying the view,” he strode up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, tugging her back against him. “You can’t deny me that.”

She sighed, relaxing in his arms and her lips quirked into another content smile as she put the finishing touches on their drinks. “I suppose you have a point…” she hissed quietly when he nipped playfully at her neck. “Stop that. I’m trying to concentrate.”

He just laughed against her skin, but pulled back, resting his head on top of hers. “Sorry…you’re rather impossible to resist.”

Now that all that was left was to let the water boil, she turned into his embrace. “Am I now?” she draped her arms over his neck and gave him a sly smile.

He arched an eyebrow, his one good eye sparkling at her. “You’re well aware that you are.”

She smirked at him now, and before another word could be spoken, dragged him against her for a fervent kiss.

He responded with a low moan, pushing her back against the counter as his arms tightened around her as the embrace deepened, desire shooting up his spine as their bodies pressed closer.

Mirana gasped against Ilosovic’s mouth, muttering his name as her hands fisted in his hair, one leg sliding up against his while his hand trailed up over her thigh.

He heard the whistle of the kettle first and smirked against her mouth. “The water’s boiling…”

“Let it.” Still, she reached back to turn the burner off, so they wouldn’t burn the palace down in the process. “Right now there’s something sweeter than tea I’d like to savor.”

This caused him to laugh and bear her gently back onto the floor, and that was the end of any discussion for a while.

“Yes, I can definitely get used to these types of mornings,” Ilosovic murmured some time later, sipping at now cold tea as Mirana cuddled against him. The two of them were resting with their backs against the cabinets, dressed haphazardly, their hair wild and bite marks apparent on Ilosovic’s chest. He glanced down at the Queen in his arms. “Though…imagine if the servants had walked in at the wrong moment.”

She giggled and took the cup from his hands, taking a drink. “Yes, that would have caused quite the uproar. But you’re my fiancé so it’s not like they can protest, really…” she fiddled with the sparkling diamond ring on her left finger.

He sighed and placed the teacup aside, taking her hand in his and stroking over her ring. “It’s still taking a while to get used to this…and I can’t help but worry that your subjects will never accept me as your King.”

Mirana tilted her head to look at him, “You’re still worried about that?” her lovely features turned serious and she shifted to meet his eyes.

He nodded, kissing the ring on her finger.

Sighing, she flipped some of her hair back over her shoulder. “Well it’s my decision, and while they can protest….the decision’s already been made. You’re the bravest, best man that I know,” she framed his face between her hands. “I see that, even if no one else does, and I know that will make you a good King.”

Ilosovic smiled, leaning into her touch. “I love you…”

She smiled back. “Yes…that’s what matters most,” and she pulled him into a kiss that proved just how much she did.
