Drabble, kurofai: Family Just the Same

Summary : Fai and Kurogane discuss the charming, dysfunctionally broken family that is Tsubasa. Well, Fai talks. And Kuro listens.
Author’s Notes: WHY HALLO. I SUCK AT TITLES. Blame it on the gnomes, always works for me.
Fai clutches at his heart.
“Kuro-sama?”
“yeah?”
“I know we joke-” Fai starts, and then laughs when Kurogane’s head jerks up, stunned at this burst of honesty. He knows that his lies, his fencing, the nicknames and every other thing he does to drive Kurogane insane work all too well. It’s only fair, though, that the ninja return the favor. Kurogane is more than just irrational anger.
Kurogane has become adept, through protracted contact with the mage at stripping away these masks Fai wears. If Fai isn’t careful, he fears, he may no longer be able to pretend at all-these days, Kurogane’s endless red eyes are enough to force him to stop running, stop lying, and smiling all the time when they all know how broken he is.
Irrelevant.
Kurogane is obviously surprised, and listening intently. Fai scoffs softly at the reaction before continuing “-That I’m the mommy… but-” and suddenly he can’t speak, only clutches the fabric over his chest, and looks up at Kurogane, whose face has taken on an identical pained expression, Fai thinks.
“But I love them just the same,” Fai whispers, not sure if the other can hear him.
Kurogane gets up and kneels in front of him, where Fai is sitting.
“I know,” he huffs. And it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever said.
And suddenly Kurogane has pressed his lips against Fai’s, so tenderly, so softly, that Fai can feel forgiveness in the touch.
It makes me love you, Kurogane wants to say, this inexhaustible kindness of yours. But he can’t. So he settles for this kiss, holding his lips there until Fai decides what he wants to do, and finally he responds, tangling his mouth with Kurogane’s.
It is also, they are both thinking, a perfect metaphor for their relationship.

Did yins get the kissy bit? Kurogane waiting for Fai, although I think they would actually both be equally retarded about starting things. Aah, but I think this is cute, SO THAR.
I’m trying out different things, I have a zillion more drabbles on my computer, trying to get them IC but also into a relationship, likely one as tumultuous as their relationship in canon, building up to writing a Yama fic. BECAUSE YAMA IS TEH SEX, you know it!
In conclusion, you all want to comment and critique and suchlike, so I can improve and write a Yama fic! <3
