fic: Itachi/Shisui: The mechanics of waking up.

well, it was bound to happen eventually. All the Naruto fic I've been reading banging around in my brain, and a Goddamn lot of Itachi/Shisui, too.

Spawned from ronsard’s comment that Itachi can only see Sasuke as a real person. I think Shisui should be in that category, too, and so this was born. :P

Oh man. This is fluffy and sweet and still absolutely Itachi. I second ronsard on the deductive reasoning because HE SO WOULD. Seriously, I can't think of any other character for whom I could buy that train of thought, but it's exactly right for him. Also his immediate decision to go "I like you do you like me" with the full knowledge it will pole-axe Shisui. Nice characterization ^_^

Itachi sometimes wonders, with a touch of chagrin for his clan, How did someone so obnoxiously carefree and stable ever get born into the Uchiha clan?
The repetition of clan makes this sentence feel a bit awkward. This is my only criticism.

Sasuke is going to have actual friends! and adventures and Itachi will teach him everything he knows.
This whole section feels ominous to me considering what's canonically in store for these poor kids, but it still fits within the story well. And really, I have to admire his hope and optimism here.

It’s a comforting thought, that he is about to completely mess up Shisui’s day.
LOL. Actually, I was giggling through most of this. I like the little snatches you give us of his days with Shisui, contrasted with how he sees everyone else. I think it'd be cool to develop this by which I mean write more :P

i also love sticking ominous things into happy fics. i need to do less fluff! moar angst. Or something.
