plans!

My plans have changed, but things are pretty much on track. Apparently because July is the busiest moving month of the year, and the first weekend of July is probably the busiest moving weekend of the year, moving companies have taken it upon themselves to jack up their prices to the stratosphere. Since there is no way in hell I can pay upwards of ( Read more... )

I forgot that everyone in Montreal moves on the same day once a year... totally insane. I'm glad you have a good plan!

I'm glad your Mom is happy to help (and you have someone to drive the truck).

I lived in MTL will very minimal french and I was suprised fine it was... MTL is such a wonderful city. I wish I could live there. Sunday mornings on the mountain. The best bagels in the world. A more relaxed attitude to life. Sophie is going to thrive and you too... that city does that to people.

Maybe sometime, we will get to visit. I have a few friends there I still keep in touch with.

Your sister sounds like she is in the annoying stage of not knowing enough to know what she doesn't know. Lots of my studets are like that. If she doesn't learn how to work at some point (whether or not she likes people). Her life is going to be very difficult. My exes sister is still struggling w/ that issue although now, at 27, at least she is aware of it. She gets jobs but quits them often... and her parents always bail her out.

Good luck w/ the move and eat a bagel for me!

I'm really excited about it. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the Montreal and living there. And I know I'll be fine with my own minimal French skills. I actually took 3 semesters of French in college, so I have some basics locked away in my brain somewhere.

As far as my sister goes, I wish I could believe it was only a stage. Unfortunately, she's always been like this, and I think a lot of it are personality traits because she's a carbon copy of her father (my stepdad). He's cynical, paranoid, and distrustful of people like she is, and he also thinks he knows more than everybody about every subject on the planet, as she's starting to project. He's also never held a job more than a year or two his entire life. In fact, he was mostly unemployed and leeching off of my mom's hard work (as he is right now). Sometimes the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I suppose there's hope she'll see some of these issues in herself and want to change things, but not while they're enabling and reinforcing her like this, that's for sure.

Anyway, enough of that negative stuff. I hope you can come visit Montreal sometime (in summer, of course haha). I will definitely have a bagel for you after I get there. :)
