Well, I finished about 2/3 of the things on my to-do list before I head out tomorrow. I'm starting to get excited about this trip, mainly because I'll get to see a lot of good friends who I only see once a year at this meeting. I already have plans for every night I'm there. My presentation is on the first day of the conference, so I'll get to relax for the rest of it. You'd think this conference is mainly about sharing research, but in reality it's all about socializing (and networking)...much fun.

I got really lucky with my hotel! Originally I was going to stay with 3 other people in one room in a cheap hotel to cut down on costs (I'm only getting $1000 reimbursement for the trip). But then one of my best friends from grad school emailed me saying she had a double room but no roomie. She said I could room with her but pay what I was going to originally pay in my other hotel. I found a replacement for the quad room, and now I get to stay at the Grand Hyatt for only $40/night (it's like a $270/night room). Hee..it's even right across the street from the convention center. :D

I've decided to leave my laptop at home. I don't want to have to worry about email or anything while I'm gone. I've decided to take the train from Newark to DC so I don't have to worry about driving/parking in DC. I've also decided to bring a camera with me. I need to start taking photos of my friends since I see them so rarely. Maybe I'll post a few, if only to prove the fact that not all scientists are geeks!

Well, I'm out of here for a week. I hope everyone stays safe and sane while I'm gone!
