Don't know whether you've been keeping up with the news, but New York public transit is on strike, leaving 7 million commuters to fend for themselves. Yesterday morning I had a lovely 2 hour walk from Brooklyn to school in bone-chilling weather, and tonight I did the same walk from school to home. When you get to the end of the bridge they hand out hot chocolate. I've learned that it's a bad idea to speed walk while drinking hot chocolate from an open cup. Hopefully today is the last day of the strike, since the people on both sides (and I hate them both) are extending negotiations.
It's like walking from Quincy to Boston, only with a long-ass bridge and crazy cabbies to contend with. But I now have buns of steel.
