[Except not really because this was preplayed and it's clearly in Xander's LJ, yes but anyway]

Xander? Not remotely nervous. Why would he be? Not like he's meeting somebody he hasn't known since they were too short to reach the bottom cupboard, let alone the top ( Read more... )

Bridge is totally not nervous either. Really. *He's* only meeting someone whose only previous communication with him was a threat involving shovels.

Xander tastes his coffee, and displays his complete unflappability by not doing a spit-take. Actually, he kinda doesn't notice the salt, at this point.

"She's totally harmless, you know. She'd never really do anything with a shovel except, like, plant flowers. Or, okay, help bury a zombie cat, but that was special circumstances."

Suddenly, there was a pop, then a heap of Willow on the floor, complete with laptop bag and backpack. Hermione had made her leave the shovel back at Hogwarts. "Stupid portkeys. Just drop you in out of nowhere, without any consideration for how ouchy the floor is."

"Xander!" She got quickly to her feet and practically tackled him in a hug. "I missed you!"

"Oof!" Xander says, intelligently. And then grins, because hey. Willow. And hugs back hard.

"Um." Bridge says. "Hi." He gives a little wave.

Willow grinned and waved back, then hugged Bridge, too. "I'm so glad to meet you! Xander," she swatted Xander on the arm, then bounced a little, "has told me almost nothing about you. Other than that you're Jewish, which, hey, cool, we can talk matzo and dreidels sometime. How did you meet? What did you do for the prom? How was camping?"

Xander facepalms a little. "I also forgot to mention her taciturn nature. I actually thought she was completely mute until about fifth grade. By the way, Willow, Bridge. Bridge, Willow."

"Hi," Bridge says again, a little less uncertain this time. "Camping was good, small tent and all. We looked for teal deer."

"Oooh," Willow peaked out the Perk's front window, as if a herd of teal deer would be walking by any moment, then looked to both of them. "Do you have unicorns? We have those, and centaurs. The forest is creepy, but they're great. No teal deer though, but maybe that's just because Hagrid doesn't think they're interesting."

More bouncing. "Do you guys want coffee? I haven't had a mocha in almost a year. Tea is good, but it's not chocolate." She poked Xander. "And you, mister. Did you decide what you're going to do next, since you're now a member of the club of academic awesomeness? Opportunities abound!"

Xander points to his mocha. Which is kind of on its side now, luckily flowing into a pile of napkins that was there already because he pretty much knew he was going to spill something today.

"I was thinking I'd start with ordering more coffee."

Willow grinned sheepishly. "Oops." She pulled a stick of wand out of her skirt pocket and said "Scourgify," while pointing it at the table. The mess was mostly clean--the mocha was no longer spilled, but the soggy napkins were still in a wet lump.

She looked apologetically to Xander and Bridge. "I'm still learning, obviously. I'll get a new one for you. Bridge, do you want something? My treat."

"Okay, that's totally cooler than the newt thing." Bridge grins. "And, um, sure. Thanks."

Xander snickers. "Cooler than the newt thing, and the hat thing - not that John wasn't a nice hat, and way, wayyyyyy cooler than the Aye-Aye thing." He shudders exaggeratedly.

"...why did you have to remind me about the aye-aye?" Bridge says plaintively.

"Aye-aye?" Willow poked Xander in the side for an explanation.

"I dunno, the newt thing sounded pretty cool, even if you're not really supposed to transform students for punishment. Not that I really expected anything better from Rita Skeeter," she said, grumpily, then brightened. "So, chocolate and caffeine, who's with me?"

"Aye-aye. It's a... was it Rory who called it Satan's Chihuahua, or was that Jaye?" Xander glances at Bridge.
