No. It really is my fault. I practically led those things to us and then didn't do anything to protect him when he ran off.

God forbid I rid you of your guilt. Still, when it comes down to it I doubt it was entirely your fault, somehow. Hell, I could blame myself for it - I swore I'd protect those boys, and now look at them... they're just as bad off as they ever were, if not worse.

Ed's not the only one that's been turned, either. I've seen a lot of them since these creatures got here.

The only thing that might redeem me is that I managed to keep Al safe. Well, as safe as he could be.

I've seen a few people acting strange as well, but I can't say I'm close enough to anyone here to notice if it was different from their normal behavior or not. Minus the Elrics and the Homunculi, of course.

... and that is appreciated. Truly, it is. I intend to help you with that, as well; I promised Ed I'd watch over him. How's he doing, by the way?

Well, I know Minako and Rikku have been acting different, kinda like how Ed's been acting. That Tsukasa kid seems quieter than usual, too.

Al? He's fine, I'm sure. I cast Barrier over him to protect him and so far as I know, it hasn't fallen.

I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting any of those people as of yet. I've kept to myself a bit, I suppose... if this fiasco ever ends, I'll have to fix that.

... might I inquire as to how, exactly, you did that? From the way you said it, I don't think what I'm thinking and what you did are the same...

Yeah. A lot of the people here are pretty cool.

Oh, it was just a simple Barrier materia. I managed to find a good stash of them in the basement before all this happened and have been hoarding them in case I would need them.

Oh, right. You wouldn't know what materia is. Uh...let's see. How did I describe it to Kamui and Ed? -thinks- It's kinda...okay, it's a small ball of hardened Mako that contains certain abilities. Like the green ones cast magic and red are summons. It's kinda hard to explain.

... I see. Aside from not knowing what the hell Mako is, I think I get the basic idea. Magic is a rather foreign idea to me as well, though Alchemy is often compared to it... or what non-Alchemists consider 'magic' to be, anyway. Some how I doubt the magic you're talking about and the one they are are the same thing.

Yeah, Ed showed me some of that Alchemy stuff. It's a little like materia can do.

Interesting. Makes you wonder what other sorts of abilities and technologies are out there... this whole experience is rather eye-opening. Even if I'd rather not have at it, for the most part... I suppose it has it's good points, even in the midst of Hell.
