The reason that evolution is important when it comes to religion is because if the genesis of the universe occurred by chance then the Genesis described in the Bible is totally false and all religion is made to be fiction. What we learn from this is the importance of the beginning of things, because if there wasn’t a beginning then they aren’t as they may be called now. Let me explain.
In Roman Catholicism we find that there has been a succession of the papacy since the Christ allegedly bestowed the role of Pope upon Peter. They site the evidence of this in the bible in Matthew 16:13-20
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ
It does seem that Jesus does indeed bestow something important upon Peter but let us look very closely at what Christ says in v.16, “ . . . Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?”. He here asks His disciples who people say He is, so He has established Himself as the subject of this conversation. Controversy surrounded Christ and the disciples’ answer shows that there was much speculation concerning who Jesus was and we see in v.15 that He was really interested not in what everyone else thought He was, but if His disciples knew who He was. Then v.16-17 shows that Peter understood who Jesus was, not by the understanding of men, but through God revealing Christ’s identity to him.
V.18-19 are where the confusion begins. In the Greek the word Jesus uses for rock is pevtra, meaning a large rock while Peter in Greek means a rock or stone. There are many examples of Jesus being described as the Rock (DT 32:4, DT 32:18, 1 SA 2:2) upon which the foundation of the church is built (1 COR 3:11). So Peter is not the rock which Christ is going to build the church, and why found something as precious to God on men?
V.19 says that the keys to the kingdom of heaven have been given to Peter, and what do keys do? They allow us access to places previously closed off and without keys we don’t have entry to the locked up places. The one other time Jesus mentions keys in the Bible is in Luke 11:52 “52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered”. So we take and see that the lawyers hinder the people under them by not sharing the keys of knowledge, and we compare that with Romans 10:9 (That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved). Looking at all that together we see that Peter was given the keys to heaven but all we need to be saved and get into heaven is to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. How do we know Jesus? Through the Word of God! So wat Jesus is saying to Peter, and what apples to the other apostles and to us believers is that we know who Jesus is and that knowledge of Christ and the relationship we have come to have with Him is what gets us into heaven.
Jesus then ends saying not to not tell people that Peter is the Pope, but not to tell anyone that He is Jesus the Christ, thus ending what was totally about Himself with Himself.
Looking at those verses in light of the truth we can easily see that the alleged biblical proof of the establishment of the papacy is no such thing which means that if Peter was never the Pope, then there was never a second or third Pope, and all of the Popes up to this day have been frauds, all servants of the devil perverting the gospel by showing themselves a sheep but inward they are ravenous wolves (Matt. 7:15). It is also interesting to notice that shortly after the supposed Pope-ing of Peter, only a few verses after the single most important event in Catholicism in v. 23 Jesus “But He turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”, which isn’t the thing that you think the God who knows all things would say to the man He just appointed as the head of His church on earth (according to Catholicism), shouldn’t Jesus have appointed someone else as Pope who wasn’t likened by Him unto satan? And from there Jesus says v. 24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”. Notice that Jesus doesn’t say that any who want to follow Him should follow after the Pope Peter, but should follow after Him for He is the High Preist who does not need to daily offer up sacrifices for His sacrifice is eternal Amen (Hebrews 7:1-28).
So there you have it folks. I’ll conduct another study concerning the Bible and the papacy when time permits. I ask you all to study this entry well and look into all of my references and I encourage all RCs to read very carefully Hebrew chapter 7 and look at the priesthood of Christ and compare it to the upossed priesthood of the men you call Father (Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven). May God grant understanding to those you seek it.
