Proverbs 2:
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Graduation is in a few days and in preparation for a life without the luxury of a completely free ride at home I have set out in the past few weeks to find a job. I found a nice lookin' one in the news paper working for "Vector Marketing" performing an unknown service but the pay was $12/appt. I checked out the website, filled out an application and the next morning I got a call for an interview, went in the next day and I took note that my interviewer (normally I don't name names but this post could save people from being scammed so none shall be granted amnesty ) Richard Brown mentioned a kid who is serving a mission in S. America who used to sell Cutco not only in the private interview but also during the group interview. The first interview took about 5 minutes and was just to screen out the people who are homeless I guess, or at least look like it. The group interview basically sells the interviewers the company and it’s processes and is plagued with fallacies such as the average of 2 references per appointment. They say that for each in home demo you do you will get referrals and thus 2 more demos and the base pay of $12 per each. Those 2 become two which become 2 and basically you have a supposed exponential growth in your customer base. Check out these two sites to see what these people have found in both research and firsthand experience about Cutco.
http://www.marketingcritic.info/http://www.thecomplaintstation.com/cgi-bin/datacgi/database.cgi/Forum/Subtopic/SubtopicID=00032453 What I want to do is encourage you all to use wisdom when it comes to jobs, schools, buying stuff off of HSN and everything else in life. God didn’t call anyone to be suckers who buy prayer rugs off of TBN that promise you to grant your prayers. I almost got dragged into making the District manager 35%-55% of every sale I make, where before I sell $1000 I only get 10% commission, and I can look forward to a 35% commission after I sell $10, earnin’ my manager between $350-550 for recruiting me. The kicker is that you either have to put a deposit on, or buy a set of knives before you can sell them, so the Vector Marketing Co. makes money of their reps right from the get go, and you’d need to make 9 appointments before you recoup the cost of buying a set.
The sales pitch given during the group interview was so similar to the LDS missionary meetings that I was especially leery of the whole deal, but was ignorant of the deception so I almost into it. Just as with certain religions (All of them) you need to check everything out, and use discretion in your life.
