This con was a gift from God!
Highlights:
--Shared a room with alice_and_lain, who is just as awesome as I thought she was, and got to hang out with her for most of the con. She is, perhaps, the sweetest person I've had the pleasure of meeting. I also got to pimp out the rereleases of Tactics and FFIV to her brother, who is another enormous nerd.
--Kappei Yamaguchi: cutest thing ever. And I got to ask him a question! Apparently, he figures out all of Usopp's screams by looking at the size of his mouth. And we got to hear the Sogeking song live! And I advocated for a great Usopp cosplayer to get to ask a question. He didn't get to, but he did get a picture with Yamaguchi afterwards, so something tells me he wasn't too disappointed. :)
--The autograph line for Yamaguchi got shut down before I got an autograph, but alice_and_lain got one, and I got to deliver a present to him from another fan!
--The JAMProject concert was amazing. Not only is everyone in that project incredibly talented, skilled and professional, but I got to hear live versions of "Rinbu Revolution" and "We Are!"
--The "Dubs That Time Forgot" panel was good. The technical difficulties sucked, but once it got going, we got to see bunches of old obscure anime with hilarious dubbing, such as 1) a horse with an attraction to a cat, and 2) Grandfather: What do you want now? Granddaughter: I want to see the inside of your house! Grandfather: Well, you'd better put on your clothes before you go inside. Granddaughter: Oh, I won't need them!
--There was a live-action Phoenix Wright trial! Or so we thought, until it started and we realized that "trial" meant "people ask a witness questions to figure out who the murderer was." So, not as awesome as it could've/should've been, but there were some good lines.
--I got everything I was looking for in the dealer's hall, and more! The main prizes are FFT and FFIV figurines, Princess Tutu on DVD, and five more volumes of From Eroica With Love. I started to read them on the plane ride back, and found that Klaus is just as much of a badasshole as ever. <3
The one bad thing (aside from some disappointment with the panels, which is standard) is that I miss alice_and_lain already. Also, I need to get back up to Sacramento to find a place to live, but I can do that tomorrow. All in all, a very successful trip, and a pile of awesome memories!
