so on a quick recap...friday night, amazing night with just the guys, met a girl named artemis (which is hot as hell) met another girl who had the coolest handshake (on a side note i ended up sitting right in front of this girl in dhall the next morning but i didnt want to be all "hey im that drunk guy from last night" and have her look at me like "one of the 4 thousand drunk males last night...no clue who you are" so i didnt know what to do, i need advice for when this happens again) finished up the night taking care of johns very drunk brother and then leaving after he got some "alcohol sleep" and all the vomit was cleaned up. Saturday night i saw a lot of T and A but had an awesome comversation with alex about how once youve found love, nothing can ever compare or fill in that space and then we talked about politics for a while. It was a good weekend indeed.
anyway, off the topic of what i did which is blase to begin with, this is a journal not so much to procrastinate but rather to prepare my mood for...gasp...reading on my own without being told to do so....followed by a french leaked version of halo 2. i can hear my GPA screaming for me to throw my xbox in the trash but i shant. i just shant. I really want to work on BACPAC tonight and i will. godamn it, is anyone else mad! is there no morality left in our political system. im so sick of this election of catch phrases, slogans and rhetoric. the idea of spin needs to be thrown out the window. i am so sick of being lied to by both parties. there is no objectivity left in the media. whether youre a compassionate conservative or a flipflopping liberal, its time we took a stand against this perpetuation of facades in the american political system. godamn it, where is our paul rever, where is our walter chronkite, where is the truth! im so sick of this juxtaposition of fahreheit 911 with farenhype 911. was no one else disgusted that the biggest issue in the debates was whether poland was or wasnt a member of the coalition of the willing or if the hunch on dubya's back was a transmittor for answers? did anyone else wish they heard clear cut plans and ideas rather than smear attacks and name calling. the thing that is so sad about the debates and most of political rhetoric is that it doesnt sway so meany people as it either mesmerizes them or it just purely reinforces their current stands. someone can look at bush saying "want some wood?" and say "haha look at bush, he really told kerry there, fucking french flip flopper" at the same time though, someone else can look at the same quote and say "goddammit, bush is an idiot and needs to be defeated again in 2004." i wont lie, i know who im voting for. im a liberal and i agree with kerry on most of the issues that i know about. but this whole thing about swiftboat veterans for truth versus going upriver stuff must stop. what we are seeing here is not the great american debate and the utilization of free speech. what we are seeing here is two political parties using our language to say two completely different things so that both are contrasting yet they both exist at the same time. does anyone else seem to remember that? one candidate wants to win the war but one wants to win the peace. wait, this all seems to familiar, why yes, it was just two days ago i was talking into the write speec when on the telescreen Big Brother came on for the daily two minutes of hate and we all chanted war is peace, ignorance is strength and freedom is slavery. two ideas, completely different, yet equalized through language. this is an abomination of everything the supposed core beliefs we as americans share. am i idealist? yes. will my idealism ever come to fruition? no. but although perfection is unattainable for humans, working towards idealism and having a sense of decency and morality will ultimately anchor us to a path of progress. right now, we are becoming less and less believing in our government and with that lack of trust comes the degeneration of political efficacy, apathy and ultimately we are overtaken by someone who promises security in exchamge for our rights. its time to stand up. its time to stand strong. its time to stand for something.
