With the Australian Federal Election only a few days away, it seems an opportune time to present our policy speech, and to give you - at last - an attractive voting option.

Vote B o b b y Dazzler Party

Our major policies are these:

1. A sweeping restructure of the public service, in which staff will be introduced to the concept that they are there to serve the public. The “public” means anyone who happens to be in Australia including those claiming refugee status, plus Australian citizens who are overseas. And “service” involves honesty, integrity, compassion and promptness in all dealings. The principle of “a fair go for all” will be explained to staff in simple terms.

2. Introduction of a new one-year course at all tertiary institutions, to be called the Personal Integrity Segment. This would be a prerequisite for studying law or entering politics, and would be specifically designed to benefit those who may have got the wrong message at their mother’s - or father’s - knee.
The four subjects:
PIS 101: It’s not all about money
PIS 102: It’s not all about winning
PIS 103: Truth
PIS 104: Ethics
The expression “He/she is taking the PIS” would come to mean that the person is attempting to come to grips with what it means to be a decent citizen.

3. Foreign policy will major on encouraging “a fair go for all” internationally. Australia will seek to establish good relations with all nations, but will act independently of George W Bush, and speak out without fear or favour on behalf of those who are not being given a fair go, wherever they may be. A favourable trade balance will not be regarded as a reason for turning a blind eye to gross human rights abuses.

4. We will pay special attention to modifying our domestic policies to ensure that a fair go is given to our indigenous people, the poor, the sick, the elderly, ethnic minorities, and refugees.

Naturally, this is only a beginning, and many other initiatives will be announced for our second term of office. In particular, a personalised small-group trip to the Outback will be provided for everyone once every five years.
