Ah... humanization appears to be unique to Final Destination City. Perhaps it would be wisest not to advertise your true nature when you assume human form in Hoenn.
I suppose you're right. The man standing at the entrance of the gym thought I was incredibly strange and I couldn't discern why. It wasn't just him, either; people were thinking negative things about me when I walked around. I understand now, though.
Do try not to take it personally. People are creatures of habit; they prefer things predictable. Things that are different represent the unknown, and are thus regarded with unease.
