I was unable to show off my Greek skills this weekend, seeing as I was unable to translate the motto of the University Club at Penn:
Not only was I thrown off by the capitalized letters in the middle of words (gammas and etas), but I have never, ever seen the word "em" before. "en" means "in" in Attic, so I assume that that's what it means here, and that the dialect is not Attic.
Thanks to my return to internet and Perseus, whom I heart, I now translate this motto as something to the effect of: a way of life in leisure.
But anyone can do that with Perseus, and my five quarters of Greek education has come to naught. Tears.
