Christopher Eccleston Picspam - part 1

Jan 17, 2009 10:07

Having spent the last few days in a state of PMT hormonal fugue (oooh I do like how Doctor Who increases ones vocab...!), I have spend my spare time looking at pictures of Christopher Eccleston. If there is anything that makes me feel better it is doing that. And in the interest of spreading the happy, I decided to do a picspam.

Behold, the pretty!

This first one is from 'Let him have it.' I first saw this film back in my uni days. I was living in a gawdawful, freezing cold, terraced house with a few other students. One of us had an ancient - even for the 90's - VCR. It was one of those tank-like contraptions with big clunky buttons - a top loader, and apart from the tracking, it worked. A few doors down was a video rental shop which would rent tapes out for £1 for 7 days. In our impoverished state, we hired out many films, going next door to the little shop (oooh I like a little shop!) and buying 4 packs of cheap beer and 2 ltr bottles of cider. Happy days.

It was the first time that I remember seeing Christopher Eccleston in anything. Though in truth, I didn't really cotton on to the whole Eccles!Sex thing then. That came later!

At the time I was studying for my degree in Psychology and was considering moving into the criminal justice system specialising in Learning Disability (what you US types term mental retardation). I found the film to be an incredibly moving piece and Chris's acting - to say he was a young man and leading in his first feature film, was astounding.

Moving on to 'Cracker'

I loved Cracker. Every series of it, Fitz was a character that I found to be bloody fantastic! I was still leaning towards the criminal justice system and being the type of person who was miles away a bit different from the norm, Fitz was pretty awesome. I bow down to thee oh Coltrane! Oooh and who is that as DCI Billborough? Well look, its that guy from 'Let him Have it'...

Wants to snuggle him..

Couldn't include Cracker without including DCI Billborough's tragic death scene.

Oh noes!

Sob!

Next up is where I started to fall for the EcclesSex charms!

I was still at Uni. By now I had moved on to post graduate studies in Developmental Pyschology and also to my own flat! It was still a bit of a dive, but it was my own, leaky, cold and ant infested dive! I had splashed out on my own VCR but still frequented the video rental shop for their £1 for seven days specials! It was then I hired 'Shallow Grave'.

At the time I had an awful crush on Ewan McGregor. So that was my reason for wanting to see this film. But then I realised something; there was that guy from 'Let him Have it'. The one who gave such a powerful performance. Now in this film his character was completely different. David, the character that he portrayed, descended into a state of psychotic paranoia and quite frankly it was fascinating and impelling. In my opinion, Chris totally dominated this film with his portrayal.

Searching for a new flatmate. David (Eccleston), Alex (McGregor) and Juliet (Fox) in 'Shallow Grave'

'David' descending into paranoia.

Psycho is as psycho does....

Because I have so many pictures and screencaps, I am breaking this up into at least 2 and probably 3 parts.  So here endeth part 1.  Screencaps are from various sources online and from my own collection.  Ones that are not mine are from here and a couple from here.
