Blue Screen of Death.... Noooooo!

I have just finished the next chapter of Winter's Beauty. Just checking through it, unsaved of course being the muppet that I am....

and then;

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Its all gone, I have to start the chapter from the beginning, it was a long one too, about three thousands words.

I want to cry.

Just yesterday I was looking over some stuff I had on disc for a new story (multi chapter AltNine!/Rose).
Today... the disc is blank.
Where the story bones have gone, I do not know. And the worst part of it is that this is the SECOND time that I've lost this particular story.

So... *joins in with your NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO* :(

I could cry, honestly I could. Its been a horrible week where I have hardly had time to write at all. I have been so busy with work and the kids all I have managed to do is write a few paragraphs each night. I finally got it finished tonight and was just reading it though when my machine blue screened.

I had a partial copy saved, about a thousand words but there is lots missing. I could scream.

Dont you just hate this when this sort of thing happens? Can you remember what you wrote? I can remember some of what I wrote and I am trying to piece it together now, but you can guarantee it wont be as good as when I first got it wrote down. At least you had the sense to back up what you had wrote, I was being a muppet and didnt save what I wrote tonight.

The crapiness of that situation cannot be expressed in words. Even thinking about it makes me want to cry and I've yet to lose thousands of words in that manner.

Ooh thankyou! I have managed to piece together about three quarters of it from earlier saves and notes, its still missing about a thousand words though. Gah!

Hopefully I have rescued enough to not have to do a total rewrite on the chapter. Its never as good when you have to do it all over again. Should be posted up tomorrow night now.

Argh, how ANNOYING! When I used to use floppy disks, they always used to get corrupted or wipes. Man it was annoying.

I know, I am a muppet, a complete muppet! So bloody annoying, my computer hasn't blue screened in ages, yet the one time I hadn't saved I lose it all....
