Chapter Three
Lucy Saxon’s head had spun as her husband had uttered those fateful words. She started to laugh; to giggle uncontrollably and when Harold had just remained knelt at her feet, looking deep into her eyes, she had begun to cry. She had stood up and wandered around the control room and sobbed. Harry had given her time to calm down then had led her back to the jump seat and had sat next to her. He handed her a white handkerchief from out of his pocket and she had wiped her eyes. Then taking deep breaths to try and calm herself, she had said who are you?
Harry kissed her, deeply then drew away. Then he told her who he was. He told her he was a Time Lord, from a long deceased planet called Gallifrey. Lucy had visibly blanched when he told her how old he really was. He told her about the TARDIS, and how he had used to travel Time and Space for centuries before being called back home to fight in a war against the universe’s greatest foe. He told her how he had valiantly fought on the front lines, before his civilisation fell and how he’d had to flee to the end of the universe and then hidden as a human to escape death.
He told her how he had forgotten who he truly was until another Time Lord had arrived; a coward who had ran away from the war, and how he had defeated him and then come to Earth to find somewhere he could call home; somewhere he could start again. He told her of his childhood on Gallifrey, how he had been taken from his family at the age of eight and how terrified and homesick he had been. How he had been taken to the Time Vortex and how there he had received a vision of his future, his destiny and how since that day his mind had been filled with the sound of drumming, signifying his journey to greatness.
Lucy’s mind had been a whirl with everything her husband was telling her. Sat in that impossible box, listening to the most incredible stories, Lucy didn’t know whether to believe Harry, or to think him insane. She looked around the room she was in, it was impossible, yet somehow it was crammed into the tiny blue box. She told Harry that she wanted to believe him, but logic told her otherwise. With that Harry had simply said let me show you and had placed his fingers both sides of her forehead and told her to relax. What happened next had torn apart everything that Lucy thought she knew and she realised that Harry was telling her the truth.
Lucy had found herself closing her eyes without even having to think about it, she felt herself slipping into a state of complete relaxation and she began to imagine herself floating above a vast snow topped mountain range that somehow she knew was called the Mount Cadon ranges. The sky was burnt orange and cast a golden light upon the snow. Down in the valleys were fields upon fields of deep red grass and as Lucy floated down she crossed vast seas until she could see land again. This she automatically knew was the continent of Wild Endeavour, and as she ascended towards the Mountains of Solace and Solitude she saw the citadel.
She saw the second sun rising in the south above the mountains and casting its light onto the silver leafed trees, giving the impression that the forests were alight. Lucy gasped as she saw the beauty of it. She felt herself soaring above the snowy plains before coming to land to observe a ceremony. A child was being led to what looked like some kind of gateway, some part of her mind seemed to tell her this was the Time Vortex and she watched captivated as the child approached.
By the time that Harry took his hands away from Lucy’s head, and retreated from her mind, she knew he was telling her the truth. She also knew that she would follow him to the ends of time and that he was her past, her present and her future. She knew that he would lead and reform the planet she called home and that with her by his side, together they would step out and achieve his destiny. Together they would rule over the whole of time.
What she didn’t know was while Harry had shown her his own edited version of his life; he had also planted the compulsion in her mind that would bond her to him. She was his, not just his wife, she belonged to him body and soul. He was her Master.
