If you buy off ebay then please read this.
I got an email 'from ebay' yesterday asking me to leave feedback for something I had bought. It didn't specify what, but seeing as I use ebay quite frequently and currently have something on order from there, it could have been that.
I clicked on the link to go to ebay to leave feedback and it asked me to sign in. This puzzled me as I was already signed in to ebay - why should it need me to do that if I was already signed in.
I closed the web page and double checked the email. It looked real, even the links off the email looked real with them ending in http ://..........uk.ebay......
But it was enough to make me suspicious. So I forwarded the email on to ebay itself. Low and behold it was a phishing email. I am very relieved that I didn't 'sign in'.
It was a very, very good fake. Had I not been on ebay earlier and already signed into my account there, I would not have been suspicious with the email asking me to sign in. Please be warned and be careful if you use ebay. If you get an email asking you to leave feedback, don't click on any of the links in that email and then sign in.
