Does anyone know how I change settings so I stop getting updates from certain people on my flist without having to unfriend them?  I feel sort of mean unfriending people, but lately all the posts from this person have been about something that I really do not care about and actually p's me off quite a lot.  I just want to stop getting updates in my

I think you must go in "Manage friends" and then there is a list of your friends. Just unfriend the one you chose.

You could turn off email updates, but then you wouldn't get emails on anything from anyone on your friends list.

You get an email every time someone on your friendslist updates? Sounds like you're tracking people - which can be managed via their profile page, or through here. :)

I would check your update options - sounds like you've checked "email me when said person updates".

Also, I make filters - I've got a bunch (too many!) filters! That way you can just see certain peoples' posts when you'd like. For example, I have a "who-friends" list which has all my friends I've met on LJ via The Doctor. Likewise, I have a "fibro-friends" based on my friendship with fibromyalgia sufferers (some of whom are also Who fans ... so I asked them which filter they'd prefer).

Ooooh sounds a bit too much like complicated for me! It's taken me ages just to navigate around LJ settings....

I'll have a look and see if I can get my head around it!
