Unprofessionalism

May 10, 2009 12:09

I dont post in here very often. For most of the last 8 months I have lived somewhere with no internet or sporadic unreliable internet. Welcome to Australia. Anyways, the internet is not my complaint today.

This could be the first (or most recent) entry of perhaps a new blog of dealing with Grad School supervisors who clearly don't give a fuck as shown through their behaviour of treating you like a complete afterthought.

The only thing I edited out was email address and signatures. Pay attention to the dates of the emails and the lack of "dear/ to" and actually signing the emails in some cases. I can't decide if that is better or worse then pretending we are in an episode of Gossip Girl and using only first name initials. The one word or one line responses unfortunately or something of an commonality. But again, is it better or worse than no response at all?

Maybe the next chain of emails will be when she arranged two meeting with me then didn't bother to show up!

Dear Lea,

I have attached my Thesis files that have been submitted to Mark for his review. He has said he will be consulting with you on these amendments.

In preparation for my Thesis to be finalized and printing the final copies, does your offer for the lab to pay for Thesis binding and submission in final form still stand?

Regards,
Sarah

Thanks for these files Sarah.
The lab will make a contribution to the costs. If you obtain information /quotes about the specific costs involved I can give you a firm indication in advance or if you provide me with the receipt when you are done I can dermine at that stage.
Regards,
Lea

Dear Lea,

Thank you that would be appreciated for the lab to make a contribution. The lowest quote I have received is $240 all up for final submission of the Thesis. If you can let me know if this is suitable that would be good.

Regards,
Sarah

Can you forward me details of quote please?

Printing $55 at SGS print room + Binding $65 verbal quote over the phone = $120 per copy. x 2 = $240.

Sarah,

The lab can cover the cost of 3 bound copies - the two that need to be submitted and one for me. I will reimburse you - you will need to keep the reciept. Hope this helps.

I understand that Mark will be getting back to you very shortly if he has not already done so.

Regards,
Lea.

Hi Lea,

That will be much appreciated. Just to clarify, the lab is willing to cover $360 of the submission process? ($120 x 3)

Sarah

Dear Lea,

I have a copy of my Thesis for you as requested. I can drop it off Monday or Tuesday morning prior to 9am if you are available.

The total cost of the submission process was $327.10. It would be appreciated if you could reimburse me at that time.
