*trying to keep balance* Ok, ok! I'm staying with you! (not like I really have a choice! I'm pretty much in the same state! XD) I'm conflicted: one side says to get over it, and the other is still looking for it... And I'm persuading and convincing my best friend through any means possible to continue SKKS, as she stopped at episode 10 (to watch another drama, grrr!)! XD
Prosecutor Princess is great too! ^^ I recommend it! (I watched it last summer) It's a bit silly at first but I was already hooked by the end of the first episodes (I don't remember when exactly... It's been a long time... Aah, memories...). The characters, you just love them~! ^^ And the plot is strong from the beginning to the end.
Now that I think about it... There were two scenes that made my tears fall (there were also those that made me feel like crying, but that's all): the one when Yoon Hee discovered that her father was in fact reading for her through the doors, and the scene with Yong Ha trying to stop Jae Shin from going into the trap. The "go, live as you wish, and get lost" really stung and made me really "feel" their ten years of friendship (these kind words are only said with people that are really close to you). I give thumb up to the scripwriter! ^^ And Song Joong Ki!!! This scene will stay in my memory for long, long time! ^^
The funny thing is that I wasn't thinking Jae Shin and Yong Ha as a couple at the beginning, but I slowly started to get curious (and suspicious) throughout the series. When Yong Ha said (confessed?) to Sun Joon that he felt attration toward Jae Shin, I thought that he gave a good example to Sun Joon (as he and Jae Shin are friends, and so are Sun Joon and Yoon Shik)! But because of this, I was more aware of the teasing and touching between them! XD I saw them as best friends until the last two episodes: the scene where Yong Ha hugs Jae Shin when they went to free him was the turning point for me! The only thoughts in my head were: "... ... Eh...? ... Aah...? They... Could it be...? Oh. ...Wait, I'm rewinding this!". Only then (with the last episode too) I saw them as a couple, lol! XD
Ah, I just needed to get say these out somehow! Feels better~! There is a lack of SKKS fan around me... *sad*
XD I'm sorry! I'll try to be good, I promise. And yay, you're staying. :D
I'll give Prosecutor Princess a try, then.
Although I wasn't able to cry at any scene (IDK, I find it difficult to cry for movies/series), I agree with you that those scenes were very touching! The YHa/JShin more for me, because I'm biased like that. XD
Oh, I think you're right, you observe well. My first thought about that sentence is that's one of the things when you care deeply for someone but feel so worried, angry, and powerless that you end up saying something that you don't really mean and you'll regret five minutes later.
I really like how Song Joong Ki acted in this series. I haven't seen him in other roles yet (I'm a bit afraid to watch in case it's not that good), but he was brilliant as Yong Ha. I love how often he changed his facial expressions and how he used both his face and body to add depth to his character. It was really a big surprise for me - I have to admit that normally I'm not very impressed by the acting in Asian dramas.
Hehe, I was spoiled by Nerjav's fanvids before I even started watching the series. Did I tell you that at the beginning, based on her fanvid and what another friend told me, I thought Yong Ha was the girl who pretended to be a man, and Jae Shin was her designated romantic interest. Yeah. I had no doubt about it until I actually began to watch the show. Based on the way they looked at each other, I thought it was rather obvious that they were meant to be love interests. XD
Right? Right? Feels better if you talk about it, doesn't it? ;)
Don't worry, I won't get over SKKS that easily! (when I get obsessed with a drama, it's for real! XD) I don't get attached to dramas easily (my best friend says I'm really harsh with them, or cruel to them, hehe...), except for those that really blew my mind (all over the floor). :p
Tell me what you think of Prosecutor Princess, ok? I think not many people know this drama, but for me it was great and should have more fans! =)
For me, this is the third time I saw Song Joong Ki in a drama, and it's the first time (I think) he is really part of the main characters. The first time was in Will It Snow For Christmas?, he acted as the older brother of the main female character during the childhood time. Aw, he had the role of a kind, warm and cheerful brother! Even though he only appears for 2 episodes, I totally fell for his character! He caught all my attention! ^^ Because of the above, I went looking for other dramas with him, and I stumbled on a medical drama (ugh, this is the last time I watch medical related series!! completely traumatized...) Obstetrics and Gynecology Doctors. He played an immature young doctor (bratty, really), who has a pretty face but the good quality stops here (his personality is no good). Not so lovable at first but we learn more about him throughout the drama. I think SKKS made him shine the most. ^^
Same for Yoo Ah In, I think: SKKS really made him shine (ooh, blinding~)! It's actually the second time I saw him. I didn't know it was him until I looked at his profile on wikidrama! He played a pretty boy, genius in boxing that had to quit because of injury, and became an apprentice patissier because he loves cakes in Antique Bakery (the movie). You just can't recognize him from Antique, and him from SKKS! When I discovered that he was the same boy in Antique, I went: "...huh? ... ... HUH?!!!! It's HIM?!! Is that even possible?!!" XD
You know what, there was a moment where I was thinking that Yong Ha could totally be a girl disguising as a guy (too)! XD The scenes where the four of them are together, when you look at Yong Shik and Yong Ha, they both have such a white complexion, while Sun Joon and Jae Shin are more tanned! Yong Ha could be suspected to be a girl too! XD At first, I really wasn't interested in SKKS, because the main character is played by an idol, and I thought that the drama would turn boring as it would twist into a promotion of the idol. But I decided to watch it (after pondering) because there is Song Joong Ki (his small role in WISFChristmas left a really good impression)! XD
Gah! Again, I left a reeeeeaaaaally long comment...!!! Sorry, it's the SKKS after effects: I'm becoming too talkative for my own good!
I think Korean episodes are a bit too long for my taste, and the editing/music could have been much better. (I've already said how I feel about acting in Asian dramas in general. XD) I think I may be harsh toward dramas as well, but if I like one, then I really like it. *sigh*
I will, once I'll have seen it.
BTW, I've seen Antique Bakery, and I'm not sure if I would have recognized Yoo Ah In's face there if I hadn't know he was in it. (I think I wouldn't have.) Funny enough, I recognized his voice right away. He has a distinctive pattern of talking and moving, I think. XD (I've seen a clip from a drama where he was with long hair and without facial hair, and I swear I found him unrecognizable.)
But to be completely honest, I prefer Song Joong Ki by far, at least based on what I've seen until now. I'm really curious to see how he'll develop as an actor. (I still can't decide to watch his pre-SKKS roles, though. BTW, have you heard the poor guy had some troubles at Melon Music Awards?)
What was the medical drama like? I mean, what traumatized you?
I didn't even know the actor who played Sun Joon was an idol, not until at least half of the series was over. I think he did very well for a singer. (Of course, there are portrayals of other characters that convinced me more, but I think he improved already during the course of this one series.)
Hehe, true. SJK looks prettier than many girls. (So unfair!) I even have a plot bunny (borrowed from a friend) for a fic, where Yong Ha ends up in a situation where he is dressed as woman. And of course, he meets Jae Shin...
Hehe, good then! Shall I write you an essay? XD (***I was supposed to be joking, but halfway through, by trying to respond to your questions, it became like this... Sorry...?)
I don't mind the length. Guess I'm just used to it! ^^ Well, of course, if I'm not interested in the story, then the episodes will be long for me (there are parts that I just skip over!). It's true that there are parts that could be improved, but the staff can't be perfect and there are many factors they could have to consider (time, weather, actors, costs...). So I just let it pass, and keep my eyes closed! ^^ (what's done, is done~!)
Yeah! I totally agree: his voice is a big giveaway! But I have to say that in SKKS, he changed his tone so much that I'm not sure I would recognize it. And he wasn't that famous before acting in Antique and SKKS (now it seems that there's an explosion of YAI-aches! XD). Funny thing, when he appeared at the Archery Competition (properly dressed and all, without his hair in his face), I had a feeling that I've seen these ears somewhere, and that's when I looked for his profile! lol XD
Me too~! ^^ I prefer Song Joong Ki, but along the way, after reading reviews on the drama, I got interested in Yoo Ah In too! And yes, I've heard about the criticism and have watched parts of the award. First, I thought that it was weird that he was hosting it alone, while many of these shows have two MC. With only one MC, it seems a bit empty, as it feels like he's talking alone. And I stopped watching after the fourth part because I don't understand a word. I don't understand why they had to criticize his hosting though... It's hard to host a show alone, and I've never seen any hosted by only one MC: there are at least two. Honestly, in these shows, what you are looking for, and keeps you interested, are the idols/stars, not the MC. It was too easy to push the blame on him. And, for me, the compagny responsible for the show pushed on him the role of an entertainer, which was totally unnecessary and out of place.
So~! (-to get rid of all this tension...! ;)) I was exaggerating (a bit, not much, really!) by saying that. Really, in the medical drama, which talks about pregnancy, babies and the doctors, there is a huge number of scenes in the operation room (hey, it is a medical related drama! XD). And, well, I'm not too fond of seeing people's insides...well, you get the image! -_-' So, after the first three episodes, I decided to skip these scenes altogether. And, it gives a wide range of illness and disorders a baby could have, cases of fertility, etc. It is about the patients, but it is also about the doctors, so we get a glimpse at what a doctor, working in gynecology dept., do when they are facing their own problems. I wasn't really interested in the story itself, but I wanted to see what kind of role did SJK play.
I think it's good sometime not to know the actor beforehand, because you could be expecting too much from him. But, at the same time, you can't help but to look for him in his previous roles, to see more of him!
Hehe, I think what's unfair are YAI's lips~~~! XD But really, I think SJK have nice lips too! I'm not really fond of people with thick lips, just normal lips are good.
You ARE evil! Saying something like that! Gah! >_< Argh, my brain! Oh, my heart! Too incoherent... Why are you throwing poisoned treat like that at the end! But hey, I can't say no to that! XD Are you working on another fic? *poke* Are you? *poke* Hm? *pleading eyes*
Hee! Thank you for the essay! :D (As I said, I don't mind at all, on the contrary!!!)
I find myself wishing to skip some parts no matter which series I watch, but it's worse with longer dramas. XD
Really? I thought his voice was still similar enough, but the face... No way I'd recognize it. And wow, you basically recognized him by the ears? You're precious! I think that if anything, I'd recognize him for his eyelids (because they're not completely symmetrical) and nose.
It's good to see that he's getting more recognition now (same goes for Song Joong Ki) - I always like it when people who have talent and work hard succeed. ^.^
Melon Awards - yes, I think they blamed him and his hosting for all other problems as well, which is really not fair. Bad organization is not the host's fault! I understand why using the informal speech was an issue, but for everything else, I don't think they should blame SJK. Plus, it's difficult talking to oneself for a few hours straight, especially at a more important award. I felt really sorry for him. Anyway, I think it was still very nice and professional of Song Joong Ki to write that letter of apology and settle the issue.
Ugh, OK, I don't handle the sight of intestines and similar to well either, so I get what you mean! How was his acting? Is it worth checking it out? Because based on your comment it doesn't seem that interesting.
LOL! Funny, most people here go on about YAI's lips and I can't see it! To me SJK's lips look much prettier and more attractive. It's a matter of taste, I guess. ^.^
I'm sorry? I'll try to write it! Damn, this series really doesn't want to leave me alone! I mean, I don't want to leave it alone. *sigh* Honestly, I'd like to make at least 3-4 more Gullim fics, but I feel so freaking tired that I don't know when I'll be able to write them. *fumes* And it means a lot to me that someone is still interested! <3
Well, for YAI, the only thing I watched from him was Antique at that time, and a few months later I began SKKS. So I didn't have his voice in mind, I was just under the impression that I've seen him somewhere before. His ears kind of stick out, so I was more focused on this! XD (after SKKS, I went and watched He Who Can't Marry, Boys of Tomorrow and Shim Family. hehe, I prefer him in SKKS~! ;))
Mm, I don't think you have to watch the drama, as SJK doesn't play a major role in it. Maybe you can look for some cuts? (same for Will It Snow for Christmas) Somehow I get the feeling that SJK was just filling for the lack of pretty face in the drama! XD
I think that YAI's lips were emphasized in SKKS: they were (bright) red, and there was many scenes focusing on his lips (and his eyes)! XD Personally, I don't really like his lips that much. I prefer SJK's~~! They have a nice shape, curving in a playful smile! ^^ Or Park Min Young's are pretty too! ^^ (mm, I don't really focus on people's body parts or face. I think that I just kind of see them as a whole with parts that might stand out more; if it's pretty as a whole)
It's okay to take your time! ^^ I'm doing some drawings right now, I began them weeks ago and I want to finish them, but I don't really feel like doing it so...same for me? (I thought vacation would give me more time for things like that, but I've been given more time to sleep instead! XD) Hey, don't worry, I'll keep you compagny! ^^ I don't intend to give up on SKKS and this couple~!
By the way, is there anything you would want to request me to draw? (anything SKKS, or related?):)
*trying to keep balance* Ok, ok! I'm staying with you! (not like I really have a choice! I'm pretty much in the same state! XD) I'm conflicted: one side says to get over it, and the other is still looking for it...
