Some of you know I have taken up the 'Who's voice is that' game while playing video games or watching animated movies. So, I have been playing through the Assassin's Creed games and am up to Revelations. Al Mualim's voice in Assassin's Creed sounded really, really familiar, although I knew I wasn't used to hearing that accent. Calm, reasonable, kind of sad. I chalked the sad up to the character, considering how he turns out in the first AC. But I knew I knew that voice, someone else in the wise old mentor role.
Went to IMDB to look him up. Peter Renaday, aka the voice of Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins. Oh. That explains a lot.
But what's this about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? SPLINTER?! :O Perhaps... perhaps some of my (and other fans above a certain age) reaction to Duncan's voice is thanks to TMNT....
In slightly other news, the voice of Ezio (Roger Craig Smith) has really grown on me. Or maybe it's just that he started out as a teenager and now he's fully adult (in his 50s in Revelations) and I find teenaged boys more annoying than anything else. But when Ezio is talking to Sofia (in Revelations) he's got the charm turned up to 11 and dear lord! I just... get lost. If Sofia ends up being the route by which Desmond eventually comes into existence, I will not be surprised.
