She wondered when the war would end--how. Would they really be smiling when it was all over? The terror of her nightmares pricked her skin. She repeated to herself that it was just a dream, that it won't come true. She didn't want to believe in the dismal landscape in which everyone but her lay face down and lifeless. Her brows furrowed as she scolded herself inwardly, and she closed her eyes to help clear her mind. There was no reason to dwell on her dark imagination at present. The Exorcists were stronger, they were more united and knew a lot more about Akuma and the Noah. They could get through this, right? Together.
Sighing, she slumped lower against the peach-colored wall and returned her gaze to the scenery outside. Like her old home, it was cloudy, but the trees were greener against the gray. The spring showers had watered them generously. A lark darted from above and disappeared under the foliage. A few minutes later, it began to sing. The girl's eyes softened and she listened more closely, hugging her legs to her chest. She tried to peer through the branches to find it. She caught a glimps of the bird when she heard a knock upon her door.
"Linali! Are you sleeping? If you're not, please come out! You have a new mission."
Snapping with dutiful energy, the Exorcist acknowledged the call and got up, tugging her coat and skirt down as she made her way to the door and pulled it open.
"Do I have to leave right now?" she asked, wishing to know if she need to pack then and there.
"Nah, you need to find Kanda first. He went to the Asia Branch. Allen's waiting for you at the Gate."
Linali slowly shut the room behind her, piecing the information. "Asia Branch? ....Well, all right. I shouldn't let Allen wait any longer. Thank you!"
Bidding goodbye with a smile, she darted away, already picturing the swordsman's sour face when he'd see the one to accompany her. What was he doing there? He never makes visits... the sooner she got there, the sooner she'd know.
JOURNAL: I've decided to record my days here, in this city that I'd never even heard of before. It is indeed a beautiful place unlike any other I've been to. There are ships that float in the air and the streets are lit by crystals. Magic, I think? Or some sort of mineral belonging to this continent. There is a plaza flooded with roses--an unbeliavable sight! Such a vivid red they are, you would think they were painted every hour. (Perhaps there is a Queen of Hearts somewhere?) It's all very mysterious...
Although there is much to enjoy in the sights, the people are another matter. At first I thought it was my uniform, but I later realized it was rather the collar around my neck. It appeared when I came here. I'm guessing it symbolizes something, but... I'm not sure what. Something urgent or repulsive, with the way some people have looked at me. But more importantly, this collar is somehow suppressing the invocation of my Innocence. I believe it is neutralizing its power, like a sort of seal. No matter how hard I concentrate, I cannot invoke it. It... is truly disconcerting, but I can only wait until I find out or somebody tells me more about these accessories.
I was told that exiting this city was forbidden, but I have yet to confirm this. Currently, I am navigating towards the city limits. Hopefully, I'll learn more soon.
