characters: Axel (explodes) and Roxas (lend).
location: The clock tower.
time: Evening.
rating: PG.
open/closed: Closed.
summary: Because no excuse is ever required to spend time with your best friend.

Axel hadn't spent much time in the City since arriving. Rather, he was making plans on how to get hold of Xion and make it so she'd at least say hello to Roxas. Maybe it would jump-start his memory - whatever the hell was wrong with it in the first place - and they could go back to some semblance of what he thought to be normal for them. It had been a plot in the making, but it was difficult to execute it without first getting familiar with his surroundings.

But old habits die hard and without really thinking on it, Axel had ended up sitting atop the clock tower, falling into what seemed like routine. Had he not known better, he might have expected Roxas and Xion to come 'round the corner with ice cream in hand at any moment. Except Axel did know better and never put stock in pipe dreams. (Had he always been so cynical?)

Inhaling the air, which was different from that of Twilight Town, he released it as a long sigh, watching as the sun set down behind the horizon. Hey Roxas, bet you don't know why the sun sets red. The memory was still fresh, vivid, and Axel regretted not inviting his best friend with him. Likely wouldn't be the same, but he made no move to try and initiate contact to have Roxas meet him there. Because after all, he was Axel, and since when did he need company for anything? He brushed the desire aside with surprising ease, drawing a leg up to his chest in a rather predictable fashion, continuing to watch the sun sink.

"Geeze. All I'm missing is sea salt ice cream, and it'll be like the good old days." He didn't get his hopes up.

axel, roxas
