Every person has specific needs.  If those needs are not being met, the hole that is created, the void that is forming, will inevitably be filled with bad emotions. Hurt, anger, low self image, sense of worthlessness, on and on. Even if the person takes it upon themselves to create distractions that may temporarily fill the void with good emotions, the true problem still remains.

Outward emotions may seem irrational, but there is always a related reason underneath, even if it is simple and seemingly trivial. In some cases it may even be trivial, but recognizing the true source of the problem can easily irradicate the bad feeling.  So why not address it rather than let it linger?  Owning the real emotion and communicating the real emotion instead of masking it with more damaging emotions, is the trick.

When it becomes impossible to communicate one's emotions, bad feelings fester and nothing improves. The bad feelings gain power and tend to rule every thought because they are not being addressed and steps cannot be taken to battle the negativity.  When one's emotional needs are not being met, and all communication comes to a halt, stagnation occurs and the void begins to grow larger and larger and larger....
