A visual evolution of the Joker
Nicholson nailed the look, no doubt, but I'm glad this article mentions the one thing that always bothered me about his interpretation: you couldn't get past the fact that it was still Jack Nicholson behind the grin. Also adequately recognized is the fact that Romero was a douche who refused to shave his mustache, making his Joker just plain silly. Of course, that's all the Joker was during the psychadelic 60's.
P.S. Is it obvious now how excited I am about this film? The whole Batman mythos has always fascinated me.
