Still pretty! Still with the slow-mo fighting! :D
1x08 "Denna"...OH MY GOD.
MORD SITH. HOLY CRAP. WHAT. YOU ALL WERE NOT EXAGGERATING. NOT EVEN A LITTLE. THAT WAS FUCKED UP. OW, RICHARD. Evil dominatrices with evil pain-stick dildos! WHAT. WOW. (And yes, I had to look up the plural of "dominatrix.")
Denna kept reminding me of Drusilla for some reason. I think it was the whole child-like joy & curiosity in torture and causing pain thing, but being a broken, insane child herself. I dunno. I don't think there's any help for that one. I'm glad she got brought back to life though, because she's a fun villain. I want to see Kahlan kick her butt. (Before starting the show, I thought this dominatrix was the Cara that everyone talks about, but then I realized no.)
Ok, now I need to go back an episode to 1x07 to mention something. There's this repeated shot of the sorceress standing in water, looking into a bowl, pouring out the water and seeing the future. I immediately sat up and said, "Hey, I know that painting!"
It's the painting "Circe Invidiosa" by John William Waterhouse (1892)
I know there have been other moments in the show that reminded me of other Waterhouse paintings, but I can't recall them now. Kahlan's white dress is very reminiscent of several different ones, though. Basically, I have a strong suspicion that someone involved in the production is a Waterhouse fan. YAY ART FANS.
Kahlan's sleeves below, yes?
Waterhouse clearly had a thing for flowy white dresses. I want to see Kahlan in this last outfit with the crown. She'd look badass. And hot.
Dear Show, please recreate this painting below for me? Because I've always liked it and think it would look awesome, especially in slow-mo.
Finally, Zed kept reminding me of someone for the longest time, but I couldn't pinpoint who. Then it hit me:

Ok, this post has gotten strangely long, involving surprise!Pre-Raphaelites and muppets. I think I'll stop here.
(PS. Kahlan is gorgeous.)
