Oh no,
kuwdora has surpassed me in the DS9 watchings! I need to get back on this. I think I was hardcore marathoning it so much at first (like 4 episodes a night, every night) that I kind of got burned out for a while there. But I'm recharged and ready for my DS9 yays.
4x05 - "Rejoined"
(Lenara Kahn, the new host of the wife of Dax's former host Torias, comes to the station.)
HOLY FEMSLASH, BATMAN!
I loved this episode. I really, really, really loved it. LOVE! I rewatched parts of it a second time (I rarely rewatch things). OH DAX! *cries* She completely broke my heart, especially when she was trying to convince Lenara to stay and then when she watched her leave from the balcony. (And I didn't think the lesbianism was exploitative at all, which I appreciated. Thank you, Show!)
This was easily one of my top ten favorite episodes so far. OH DAX, I LOVE YOU. ♥
4x06 - "Starship Down"
(The Defiant gets damaged in battle.)
I love Kira & Sisko's relationship. Kira was disappointed to realize they don't talk about things not related to work. I love Kira so much. She knows he doesn't like the whole Emissary role he's been put in and she feels for him about that, but she also believes in it. She said something along the lines of "I'm sorry my being religious makes you so uncomfortable" that really struck me. I loved her telling him the fable about the 3 brothers.
Kira: You have to try to stay awake for me. I'm just going to keep talking, alright? But you have to listen. It's very important that you listen to me...because there's gonna be a test later.
ILU, KIRA.
I also love Dax & Bashir's relationship now that he's not mooning over her all the time. I adore them as friends.
Dax: It's funny. A year ago if you'd done something like this, I would have thought you were just trying to be a hero.
Bashir: And now?
Dax: Now that I know you better, I realize it was just a really stupid thing to do.
Bashir: Ah, you're welcome.
:D
4x07 - "Little Green Men"
(Quark, Rom, & Nog go back in time to Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.)
Aww, I love how Rom is so proud of Nog for joining Starfleet. And I loved that going away party where he sold his childhood possessions. It's like the whole station is proud of little Nog (except for Quark).
This show is still secretly a sitcom about Odo & Quark.
Quark: Try not to miss me too much while I'm gone.
Odo: I'll be counting the days until you get back.
Sisko as Gabriel Bell was in Rom's Earth history book. Yay for continuity! :)
What I really appreciated about this episode was that they addressed the issue of Universal Translators and what happens when they don't work or people don't have them.
Human Guy points to Odo: Who's he?
Quark: My hero.
Odo: Can we please leave now?
Seriously, it is secretly "The Odo and Quark Show" sitcom.
4x08 - "The Sword of Kahless"
(Dax, Worf, & Kor set out to find a legendary Klingon sword.)
I really enjoy episodes about Dax & Klingons a lot. I don't have much else to say other than I had to rewind this line to make sure I heard it right:
Worf to Kor: Your confrontation with Kirk on (blah blah) planet...
And then I flailed a bit on the inside. I take it this is one of the actors who played a Klingon on TOS? Awesome.
Worf feeling torn between Klingons and Humans/Starfleet is always interesting (I didn't realize he was raised by humans). He's sort of like Spock in that way, between 2 worlds.
4x09 - "Our Man Bashir"
(A transporter accident (lol, isn't it always?) turns Bashir's holosuite program dangerous.)
I had two very different, very opposite, yet simultaneous reactions to this episode. I thought it was both cringe-worthy/painful/eyeroll-inducing AND adorable/fun/cracky. My reactions were so bipolar!
Garak sneaks into Bashir's embarrassing spy program, which is sort of HILARIOUS. And could they stand any closer while talking? I think not!
Bashir: Don't rain on my parade.
Garak: Parade?!
Hee! He sounds so gleeful at the thought there might be an actual parade...
Garak: This era had a distinct lack of taste.
Awesome Garak quotes ftw.
I accidentally got spoiled for something major in a Star Trek article, which I'm bummed about, since I had somehow remained unspoiled for this 15 yr old show. So, no more reading any Trek things just in case. I have no idea what's going to happen, and for once I think I'd like to keep it that way. If possible.
