I was worried about the Gwen hate, since I do REALLY love her. Not quite as much as Ianto, but I think she is adorable and interesting and complex and I cannot understand why people hate her so much!

Plus, she's our intro character - TW designed as HER story, from the pilot on. Even if Jack and Ianto got most of the fandom focus.

*smishes Gwen*

I have never met a "Spoilers" cut tag I won't click on. I just can't manage to actually WATCH IT HAPPEN yet.

The Gwen hate is already strong on my own flist alone. I haven't even looked in comms! And hey, everyone's entitled to hate whatever character they want. It's just...making me roll my eyes.

I've had my issues with Gwen in the past, but I've never hated her, just been unhappy with a few of her decisions. But she's been bloody brilliant in this season and I hate that the Ianto/Janto fanbase is taking this out on her. It's not fair and it's not right. Just watch the end of the episode. She's as devastated as the rest of us.

Yeah, it really doesn't make any sense to me. I don't get how Ianto dying is related to blaming/hating Gwen. Eh, whatever.

Honestly? I'm a BIG Gwen fan and I borderline hate Ianto and I still felt that way. Because the way they were setting up the storyline, it *made sense* that it would be her: her pregnancy tying in to the thing with the children AND the fact that the 456 could control them. Plus, it would've let her go out on a high note, for once getting to show her awesomeness instead of getting shoved back into the role of despised "obstacle" for the J/I relationship, which is EXACTLY what happened instead ( ... )

My favorite character was Ianto and I'm a huge fan of the Jack/Ianto relationship, but I'm curious about your comment. How would it have made sense for Gwen to die instead? I guess you're saying because she was pregnant and the storyline was about kids. I know they crossed a lot of lines that aren't usually crossed story-telling wise. But she is the 2nd main character and is pregnant. I don't think even Torchwood would kill a character off like that. Maybe it would have made sense for her to be more involved in stopping them, though.

Sorry, I completely disagree. I think she shows her awesomeness all the time. I'm a Janto shipper and I've never thought she was shoved into the role of an obstacle. But especially not in this series.

they didn't kill the character, but they might as well have for the damage done. You ( ... )

How would it have made sense for Gwen to die instead?Mainly because it would've had the same emotional impact for Jack, but without alienating 9/10ths of the viewing audience. In fact, because there *is* so much Gwen hate in the fandom, they pretty much would've guaranteed themselves a fourth season ( ... )

THE OT3 (plus RHYS=OT4) OF WIN :D I rather liked the way the three of them were this time around (woo for Gwen being awesome, DOUBLE BARREL COOPAH) but no, I wouldn't want to swap one for the other. Nor do I particularly think that RTD would have done so either, considering how much he likes his in-show female proxies XD

Is it so bad to have people survive adversity ala craaaazy, vomiting aliens?

This made me laugh. Dammit, why can't we survive crazy vomiting aliens?! *g*

pff, that's the torchwood fandom for you - just ignore it!

the scene where she went to look at the... *sob* bodies & how she was with ianto then - oh god, it just broke my heart. oh IANTO, *wails* i'd rather have no one dying at all.

2nding the "no one dies" option. :(

Yeah, that scene with the red-covered bodies completely broke my heart.
