Getting back to my DS9 watchings & bloggings

I'm up to season 4 with Deep Space Nine. Wow, the seasons are just flying by now. Random, shallow episode commenting is a go!

4x01 - "The Way of the Warrior" (extra long, 2-hour episode):

In seasons 1 - 3, the actor who plays Bashir was credited as Siddig El Fadil. Now he's credited as Alexander Siddig. I wonder what happened in that time to make him decide to change his screen name. I think I read a reference that he got tired of people not being able to pronounce it. Which is kinda sad that he felt he had to Anglicize it, but I can also relate. There've been many times where I just let people call me Sarah or Sylvie or Sylvia because it's annoying to constantly correct them.

Whoa, Sisko with a shaved head. It shouldn't make such a big difference on him, but for some reason it does. I'm not sure I like it.

Aww, Sisko has a girlfriend.

Kira & Dax's hair are both bigger & longer. Sisko lost hair, and they gained it.

That's a lot of Klingon ships. And that's a lot of Klingons.

Bashir: "Chief, I'm beginning to think there's no limit to the wonders you can perform."
O'Brien: "That's what I like about you, Julian. You're easily impressed."

Dax & Kira are hanging out in their bathing suits in a holosuite. Dax tries to get Kira to have fun. Kira really doesn't like holosuites.

Odo & Garak have coffee together! Odo shows him how he pretends to drink. Some Klingons threaten Odo and call Garak his Cardassian lapdog. Garak: "Actually, I'm not sure Constable Odo has a mother."

Why is some of the Klingon language translated (aka, English) and some isn't?

Bashir patches Garak up after Klingons attacked him.
Garak: "There was no harm done."
Bashir: "They broke several of your ribs and fractured your clavicle!"
Garak: "Ah, but I got off several cutting remarks, which no doubt did serious damage to their egos." :D

WORF! Hi, Worf! I knew he joined the show at some point, but I didn't know when it would be. What happened to the Enterprise? It must have been destroyed in TNG, but I don't remember how that happened.

Worf drinks prune juice.

Dax & Kira come out of a holosuite in medieval dresses. I love them and their ridiculous outfits.
Dax: "She knocked out Lancelot."
Kira: "He kissed me!"
Dax: "He's supposed to kiss you!"
Worf to Kira: "Nice hat."

I love that Morn is always hanging out in the background, doing his own thing.

Dax & Worf practice fight. Dax: "Think of me as a man. I've been one several times." :D
I like them together. I hope they become friends and hang out. I think maybe I've been spoiled that...they get married? Don't tell me either way. That bit of info showed up in 2 fics I read (before I stopped reading fics because I decided I wanted to remain unspoiled), but I'm not sure if that's canon or fanon.

The Klingons want to invade Cardassia. The Cardassian Central Command government has been overthrown by civilians, and they think it was all organized by the Dominion.

Poor Worf. Always has to choose between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.

The gang sneakily lets Garak "overhear" that the Klingons are going to invade Cardassia. Everyone is so sneaky. Mutually agreed sneakiness. I love it.

Aw, Worf misses the Enterprise.

Yay, Dukat is still around. As military adviser to the civilian government. He always lands on his feet.

Sisko & The Defiant rescue Dukat & the council members from a bunch of attacking Klingon ships. YAY SPACE BATTLES. (And yay for Sisko & Dukat being together again!)

Bashir tries to get blood from Dukat for the Founder Screening Test.
Dukat: "I find this whole procedure offensive."
Bashir: "And I find you offensive!"
Oh snap. Julian really loathes Dukat all of a sudden. Well, Dukat, maybe if you were nicer to his boyfriend Garak, he'd like you better.

Quark is always bitching about his cousin Gala who owns a moon. heh.

I loved Quark & Garak talking about the Federation. It's interesting to hear outsiders' views about it. Quark makes Garak try root beer.
Garak: "It's vile!"
Quark: "I know. It's so bubbly and cloying and happy."
Garak: "Just like the Federation."
Quark: "But you know what's really frightening? If you drink enough of it, you begin to like it."
Garak: "It's insidious."
Quark: "Just like the Federation."

Oh no, Klingons are attacking the station. Quark: "The Klingons?! First it was the Cardassians. Then it was the Dominion. Now it's the Klingons!" It is not easy being Quark, let me tell you.

Bashir: "I'm sure there's more than one Klingon who thinks that slaying a Changeling would be worthy of a song or two."
Odo: "Doctor, if a Klingon were to kill me, I'd expect nothing less than an entire opera on the subject." :D

Haha, Garak & Dukat reeeally hate eachother. They have to fight side by side. I am so amused by them.

Oooh, we get to see close-ups of the outside of the station firing weapons. Space battle! \o/

Starfleet to the rescue. It's surreal seeing so many Enterprise-looking ships together. I tend to forget that the Enterprise isn't the only ship that looks like that.

Aww, Worf got a promotion to Lt. Commander. Now he wears red. Weird to see him in that color. Hooray, he's joined DS9 (but I already knew that he would).

i am a freak, deep space nine
