This (awesome) Dresden Files/Good Omens fic I recced the other day has renewed my love of Good Omens, specifically Crowley/Aziraphale. Luckily, I just happened to randomly throw my old, battered copy of GO into my bag when packing. I started rereading it and ended up just skimming through all the non Crowley or Aziraphale parts. If you've never read it, I highly recommend it. It's by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett. Published in 1990. Really funny, with wonderful characters.

Crowley is a demon. Aziraphale is an angel. They've been assigned to earth since the beginning, and although technically are enemies, they've turned into eachother's only real friends. They quite like life and humans and things as they are, and are much more interested in having tea together and running errands than in Doing Evil and Smiting Righteously. Fellow Slashers, their love is almost, practically canon. I have a weakness for Good/Evil or "We're Supposed To Be Enemies But We Like Eachother" slash. Combine that with domestic, comfortableness with one another...Ta da!
I really love Crowley and his car and his Best of Queen tapes and his houseplants. And Aziraphale's ineptness with answering machines and his bookstore where he convinces people not to buy his books.
[O]nce a week, Crowley went around the flat with a green plastic plant mister, spraying the leaves, and talking to the plants.
He had heard about talking to plants in the early seventies, on Radio Four, and thought it an excellent idea. Although talking is perhaps the wrong word for what Crowley did.
What he did was put the fear of God into them.
More precisely, the fear of Crowley.
In addition to which, every couple of months Crowley would pick out a plant that was growing too slowly, or succumbing to leaf-wilt or browning, or just didn't look quite as good as the others, and he would carry it around to all the other plants. "Say goodbye to your friend," he'd say to them. "He just couldn't cut it . . ."
Then he would leave the flat with the offending plant, and return an hour or so later with a large, empty flower pot, which he would leave somewhere conspicuously around the flat.
The plants were the most luxurious, verdant, and beautiful in London. Also the most terrified.
There's a surprisingly large amount of fanfic! I've only just scratched the surface.

I just read
The Sacred and the Profane by afrai last night. It is a lengthy AU where Crowley is the angel & Aziraphale is the demon. Excellent, but broke my heart. High angst factor. Highly recommend. (I am an angst addict.)
Also, here are
links where you can read the actual book (and other Neil Gaiman books) online, if you'd prefer.
Finally, how have I never seen this picture before?? Neil Gaiman as Crowley and Terry Pratchett as Aziraphale. Because of the barcode, it was obviously the back cover of some edition. Came across it when I was googling for pictures to possibly make an icon. My reaction was ~MASSIVE INNER FLAIL~.
And in conclusion, Dean I love this book and these characters.
ETA:
Collected book covers from around the world. Neat.
