I am now addicted to Google alerts. (Shut up.) I also had a mind-numbingly boring day at work today.
- Kirk Acevedo fulfills science fiction passion in 'Fringe'
"It's very exciting for me, because I am a total sci-fi geek," he says. [...] "It's funny because I'm a classically trained actor, but most people only know me as a prison inmate, and what I actually do well is Shakespeare," he says.
"As a Hispanic actor, I don't always want to play the robber or the inmate," Acevedo adds. "That's something that has been very frustrating for me."
He was the best part of the pilot. Man, I wish he were in a better show.
- "Oz" and "The Wire" Creators Reunite for "Best Miniseries Ever"
A mini-series about the 12-day search for John Wilkes Boothe by the writers/creators of Homicide: Life on the Street?? I'M SO THERE.
- Sarah Connor Creator Talks Killer Bots, Cyborg Sex, Surviving the Future
"Science fiction has always been a great place to explore gender politics -- that's why there is a big gay and lesbian following of sci-fi."
- It's Not What You Know, It's Who You Know In Cult TV
I can see the path to televisual domination right now. Step one: Get to know Joss Whedon. Step two: Get to know Joss Whedon. (Dollhouse casting spoiler talked about)
Too bad this show may never see the light of day...I'm still hopeful, though. It doesn't really help to know Joss, if your shows keep getting cancelled. :/
- Torchwood's Tosh on Life, Death and Sci-Fi Success
Torchwood's Tosh is Feeling No Pain
Toooooosh!
- 'Torchwood' Star Reasserts His Sexuality
"If you had told me that I would only be doing West End shows for the rest of my existence, I would have been completely happy. So I was offered this audition and I thought, I'm a geek, I love sci-fi, I love comic books, I love all that kind of stuff."
ILU, Barrowman.
- IMDB to offer free movies and TV series
- Is this a Sci-Fi "Golden Age"?
- Hollywood studios still don't get the internet
"Hollywood is still trying to figure it out. Their approach is how to use it without paying anyone and to control all of it."
I know you are all SHOCKED.
- How to Fictionalize Science Beautifully
Science fiction is usually defined as a story that incorporates elements of science, but rarely does scifi actually take the form of a scientific paper or research volume. [...]This slim, beautifully-illustrated volume is an anthology of 45 fictionalized plant species - it's fiction written to resemble science, and which comes out sounding almost like poetry.
Huh.
