Lost theories

There's actually a community for theories about what's going on in the show "Lost": lost_theories

Someone mentioned (and I can't remember who) that the great thing about "Lost" is not what theory will turn out to be correct, but that people are *thinking* about it, discussing it, & forming logical arguments for their theories. Here are some of the more interesting theories/points I came across:

1. The novel Watership Down has been shown & mentioned several times already in the show. sunnleopard wrote a great essay/post comparing the novel & the show, particularly the characters in both.

2. The writers/makers of the show have already stated in interviews that details are not coincidence. Here's some info about the comic book Walt was reading found by kantayra

3. The writers have said they were influenced by Stephen King's The Stand. missdeviant breaks down the storyline & characters in reference to "Lost"

4. The "They're all dead" theory

5. calicham compares the show to "Revolutionary Girl Utena," a Japanese psychological drama & to a punnish play

6. psychokitten78 draws comparisons with the prophecies of Adelyn Saville (similar to Nostredamus)

7. Locke is the real Mr. Sawyer

8. kantayra discusses the religious symbolism.

9. nekosmuse compares the show with The Lord of the Flies & Alice in Wonderland

10. Not really a theory, but ladysorka posted a few seconds of film from the pilot where something strange flies down from the sky.
