Happy Independence Day Weekend!
Been hopelessly busy the past few weeks, hence my absence. Mainly this has consisted of work and a lot of socializing. Actually, my social/dating life had been getting out of hand. While this may sound like a self-touting statement, the simple fact of the matter is that I was in touch with too many different women, and, finding myself exhausted and short of free time, I just put up the "Closed" sign for a while. Still, I cannot deny enjoying the attention. But I intend to remain unattached for a long time. And I actually do intend to stick to that goal - in light of the events of the last year, avoiding handicapping myself with commitment requires a mere fraction of the discipline I have had to muster in the past.
The good news is that I started receiving computer business - my first client was a private security firm with an overheating server. Making a day's wages in two hours is stimulating to say the least - I just need to conduct more extensive marketing.
Hypnosis studies are continuing, business cards will be made for that work, and company logo developed once more money comes in. I am also working on an anthology of people's dreams and nightmares - taking the most colorful ones and considering them for publication. To the best of my knowledge, no such volume exists. It will be illustrated if published.
Also, I am still playing with aphrodisiacs and other homemade, herbal concoctions designed to enhance the mind and body. The current mix is affectionately called "NeuroGlycerine." In the next month or so I will be finding volunteers to test it and submit a written evaluation - I like it so far, but am biased. The working theory is that herbal aphrodisiac effects applied outside the bedroom, i.e., in work and art, can, in a nutshell, simulate a higher I.Q. Of course, feel free to do the dirty deed as well, right? Anyway, I have no interest in legalistic crap, so I'll probably only sell it privately, through word-of-mouth.
More good news is that the high prices of fuel have triggered measurable trends towards de-globalization. Several years ago I was involved with a girl who had a flair for seeing the forest for the dead, rotting trees, and who said that globalization could never be stopped. I bet her that it could happen, though I never suspected oil prices as a catalyst. Time will tell, but even at the risk of temporarily high fuel prices, I would relish a dissolution of free-trade agreements, open borders, global homogenization, etc, in favor of increased isolationism and national sovereignty as in days of old. Who knows, maybe someday I will be able to call customer service and actually be able to comprehend the words of the person on the other line.
The "China Factor" is being mentioned more and more as one of the prime causes for the price surge. I reiterate that China and India, who comprise 1/3 of the world's population, need to depopulate themselves - seriously. Their penchant for excessive breeding is entirely irresponsible. And that hypothetical yuan-counterfeiting operation I tossed out there (my 5/27/08 post) needs to come to fruition. For better or for worse, as energy shortages occur around the globe in years to come, many ethical constraints now taken for granted as givens will become obsolescent.
That is all for the moment. There is laundry sitting in the dryer and my stomach is empty.
