Fic Ramblings
This is for a Stargate Atlantis fanfic tenatively called "Bondage." And no, it's not a smutty story.
Basically what I have so far as an idea is that Liz and Rodney have just returned from visiting a alien planet that wished to see the Leader directly. However they find that now they can not go more then 10 feet from each other without pain. Dr. Beckett is called in yet he can't find anything physically wrong with either one of them. Finally it is found out that while they were on teh planet, the people married them in thier custom of joining souls.
Carson calls in Kate Heightmeyer, figuring this is really her field of expertize and an anthropolgist who had done research on the culture of said planet: Dr. Kiana Roberts. She usually only works with Rodney and Liz and Kavanagh (since he's her direct superior...poor girl). However, she likes to avoid John Sheppard (and He her) since they are ex-spouces. (got that from reading a fic where Liz comments that John was divorced. an idea poped up).
She is sent back to the planet with John to figure out if there is some way of breaking the bond. The people say no, but offer one of thier people to help them research a possible way to sever it. (They don't have divorce...Lucky bunches of oats there aren't they). They return to Atlantis with Alien chick to figure out the problem.
Meanwhile, Kate and Carson try to figure out what to do in the mean time. It's decided that the two will have to share a room for awhile, but given the fact that they do get 10 feet that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Kate decides to keep a psychological profile on each of them during this time, making sure the bond doesn't have afteraffects that effect the mind. Carson keeps his eye on them to make sure nothing physically goes wrong.
This goes on for about a week. Liz and Rodney get comfortable aroudn each other and end up realising that they don't mind the bond with the acception of the distance problem. Meanwhile, Kiana and John start growing closer. She finds out that the bond has the severe afterefffect for only a week and a half, and then Rodney and Liz would be free to roam apart and as far as they wanted to. however, they decide not to tell them of that and continue to search for a cure to the bond, which they find. However by the time they figure it out, Rodney and Liz have realised they are in love with each other and don't want the bond to end.
pairings: Liz/Rodney mainly. Also Kiana/John (well..sorta. They get together at the end and decide to try again at least at a general level), Kate/Carson (possibly), and Aiden/Teyla.
Does anyone see a major plot hole or anything I need to cover. It's going to be more detailed. I think I am going to make it 10 chapters. One chapter for each day of the 10 days they are bonded together. (Hence the title "Bondage".)
