It took me a while to compile this slide show since my internet on my most awesome massive computer is not working so well lately. Go figure.
I guess I'll finally talk about Cali. It was a good vacation, but very busy. Kamron and I attended a 6 day conference for Christians that focused on the writings of John. Even though it was a pretty packed schedule, I think it was just what I needed for my walk as a Christian. It's awesome how the Bible is never exhausted. There's always something new to learn or experience from the Bible. We had study sessions in the morning, usually followed by lunch with people we knew. We stayed with a very dear and loving couple, Mike and Carol, the whole time in Cali and had lunch with them sometimes as well. Around 3, we would head out from Long Beach where we were staying to drive to Anaheim and were in the meetings until 9 or 9:30.
I think the most relaxing and fun parts of the trip were eating at restaurants that don't exist or are scarce in Texas. The first thing we did when we arrived was hit BCD Tofu House and Ten Ren Tea. Ten Ren's by far the best boba I have ever had. They actually sell tea leaves and tea products in the store, so they use quality tea for the boba drink. And they use cocktail shakers to mix the drinks, which adds to the anticipation of getting a drink. I remember when I was at school in Cali, it was the most therapeutic thing to walk in that place and have a nice tall boba drink in the hot Cali heat. Anyway, you get what I mean. And the Korean tofu... well, just look at the pictures!
I got to see my brother, Sam, while we were there since he attended the same conference. We went out with him and my mom for sushi. It was all-you-can-eat sushi for one hour. Not the nasty been-left-out-for-hours sushi, but fresh made sushi. We would order one roll per person and the sushi chef would make it on the spot. Kicks Kirin or Todai's.
We also visited a lot of people Kamron knew when he was in Long Beach. We went to several different people's houses for lunch. It was always nice, but sometimes tiring in the afternoon. I got to see a few people as well.
The day before we left Cali, Kamron and I drove down to Laguna Nigel (south of Irvine) to spend some time with his uncles. Kamron's aunt-in-law is studying to be a chef and brings home food she's prepared in culinary school. She made a bunch of very nice appetizers, including sushi. She also brought out fruit from the farmer's market that was absolutely delicious. I had the hugest figs grown on this planet, I think. That was only the beginning. We had a great meal out in their backyard, which was topped off with an equally delectable dessert. Then we all headed off with the rest of the cousins to watch Transformers.
The last set of pictures are from times of spaz or boredom. Good times, good times.
